Hotel Nawathana

If you plan to stay in Matara for few days, I must say without any hesitation this is the best budget place. You can visit several places in Matara very easily by staying here. Staff is very friendly. Furthermore, the security and the privacy protection which are provided by the hotel ought to be highly appreciated.

Excellant place to stat with families with kids, specially to mention chief chef as he is very friendly guy who helps everyone with food choices.

Terrible experience! Worst overnight stay ever: ants, spiders, geckos, cobwebs and mold, lots of mold. The sheets were dirty with brown and yellow stains everywhere. The room clearly had a marked musty odor. To top it all off we found a festival nearby and given the total lack of soundproofing (the geckos come in let alone the noise) we stayed up until 2 in the morning. We spread towels brought from home on the bed and slept with them. We didn't have the courage to sit on the toilet given the yellow stains there. In short, it's disgusting. The gentleman who served us breakfast was kind but given our bad experience we ate the bare minimum and fled.

We quickly checked-in last night with a very short notice, Manager was happy to welcome us even it was after hours.

Good service and beautiful heritage place to stay, no frills down to earth hotel with truly Sri Lankan service.

Room are quit okay in term of rate. But it little old.

Initially i feel kind of disappointment of choosing this place due to difference reasons but while stay, gradually it change to some positive attitudes.

I found this place from booking.com so my advise is when you booking through the booking.com you have to be aware of the doller rate. Because i face some difficulties while check-in due to increase of the doller value. (I have to pay more than i expected due to increase of doller value)

Another thing is they have no preparation for the power failure, so keep that in mind.
Also they don't have much options for the breakfast.

Small tip - Other than your usual things, include tooth paste, water bottles, sleepers, extra sops (if you can) into your luggage.

Although they try their best to offer 5 facilities in low budget.
Sea bath, sun bath, pool, are some activities that can experience in here.

This place complete with 2 small restaurants and a nice garden open to the beach.

Altogether its very nice place to spend the vacation and have more value to your spending

Great place, and facilities, the rooms are super comfortable and beds very well upholstered. Food is good. Managers are nice.
Note, Chef is a little arrogant. Best not have him engage with the guests.
It's not pleasant to have them be that negative.
But a gem of a place for sure. Super locality, approach to a lovely beach too!

Good view of the Matara beach. The room is simple but sufficient for a comfortable stay. Room is clean comfortable beds.

Super stay for a budget trip. Harsha the manager is very attentive and provides excellent service. Tasty food by the cook and friendly staff. Clean rooms and super location.

Decent stay for the price. Clean small rooms with titanium floor. BR with hot water though not well maintained, AC, cable TV, wifi. Dining in restaurent on demand. Beach front is not clean and sea is muddy.can rec for a budget stay.

It is a Super beach hotel to stay, located the heart of the Mathara city. Friendly staff. Quality Service. Very reasonable chargers.

Our short stay at hotel Nawathana was a great one! A calm and quiet place in the heart of Mathara Town, the hotel over looks the beach and the Paravi Dupatha temple! A well maintained hotel with a friendly staff.

Antique place, almost private beach, partly maintained garden, green space for kids to run around, 8 rooms with hot water, good food friendly staff, pool not maintained well

I stayed in room no 104. It was smelling musty, and not worth the charge. Food is overpriced.
