Sinharaja Forest Gate

Very nice starting point for a hike into the jungle. The route is uncomplicated, but a guide makes sense to recognize the flora/fauna, the food is ok, the whole thing is very remote.

This place is great and the food is not that bad as I ve read in the reviews. Good service from the staff and the view is great too. The only problem I ve found was the road to the hotel.

We had a really bad experience here doesn't recommend this place for everyone don’t ruin your holidays with them.

* Hot water and AC system doesn't work properly
* Water pressure is not enough and intentionally cut down water.
* Intensionally cut down power at midnight
(no generator)
* Swimming pool is not maintaining. ️
* Customer service is awful
* Tasty of food is zero

This property owner is rudest. When we trying to give a feedback he didn't pick up the phone.

Avoid this place not worth for your money and time.

I am a digital nomad and internet connectivity here was good for my work. The place is calm and perfect serenity.

We had a beautiful stay in the Forest Edge. The people were so friendly and served us very well. First we had a room that had a smell inside maybw meldow but we instantly got a new room, without any problems. In genrral its clean and nice and has a nuce poolarea to relax. The owner organised us a Ride to our next spot because pickme was not available in this area. The garden, the lake and the surrounding of the nature is a small paradise. Its directly at the entrance of the jungle. You can easily book a great tour with the hotel. We recommend the 12 km tour. The food was nice as well, we could even eat salad without doubt about travelsickness. The owner told us lot about the country itsself.

Near the gate to the forest. Has a pool, more than 30 types of birds you can spot on the territory.

Magical experience in the heart of the Sinharaja Rainforest. Just book it!

The bedrooms are simple but clean (if you want something more fancy, check out for the tents) and check-in was flexible. The location is absolutely amazing. We had for dinner a typical Sri Lankan meal to the sound of pouring rain and woke up to monkeys playing around.

Service is impeccable (special thanks to Dinlini) everyone is so kind.

The host organized for us a private tour of the rainforest with an amazing and passionate ranger.

We will come back for sure. Not a better way to experience the magic of this UNESCO place.

Alles in einem ziemlich guten Zustand und alle negativen Aspekte wurden durch die super freundlichen Mitarbeiter und Hosts wieder wett gemacht. Auch perfekt, dass dort direkt der Eingang zum Regenwald ist und es einen Pool gibt:)

We went on last week to sinharaja forest edge. Nice calm place. Rooms/washrooms also clean. Its available hot water. But no TV facility. (We do not expect it since we not went there for watching TV) Foods also delicious. Staff also super friendly. Pool is not that deep and bit small, but its good to a person who wanted to practis swimming. Overall a good place. Only issue is the accessing road to the hotel. Lower ground clearance vehicles unable to reach to the hotel. They have a seperate parking area in mederipitiya and we can safely park the vehicle at there. Then they come to pick us by a cab.

If you want to visit the Sinharaja Rainforest, you have so stay in this place! It’s right by the rainforest entrance, so the location is perfect. The staff is amazing. The local food they cook is really good. And the place is beautiful!
We booked the tour around the forest with them and it was amazing! I totally recommend it. It was 35$ per person and it includes the entrance to the forest, food, water, anti- leeches socks and a really great tour. Our tour guide was Sanjeewa, he is a naturalist and he has so much knowledge about the different species. He showed us many different animals and brought us to different places, even to swim in a waterfall.
It was truly a great experience and we can’t recommend it more.

Environment is good

Rooms were average. No water bottles or shampoo provided. Soap and towels were there. No TV. Pool is really small. Even 10 people can barely use it. Even dogs were swimming in pool and sleeping on chairs.

Buffet is horrible. There are no varieties at all for the price. Food is not that much tasty too. Useless for value of 15000/= for Double FB.

Staff was good though.

Sinharaja Forest Reserve is a forest reserve and a biodiversity hotspot in Sri Lanka. It is of international significance and has been designated a Biosphere Reserve and World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Nice place to visit with family. Natural environment with all facilities at a time in Sri Lanka.

I have no hesitation to recomend this hotel to any turist. Sinharaja Forest Edge, situated in just at the entrance, making it convenient to access. The food, service, and tranquillie atmosphere are highly commentable. I should mention the friendly service of Tikiri and Shaly and the staff. Even the proprietor also is very helpful.
I believe, as Sri Lankans we should extend our cooperation for the tourist to enjoy the solemnness of the silence mingled with the various cries of animals in the environment specially at night. In addition, I appreciate the tour guide named Sagara recommended by the hotel, for his dedicated service, knowledge, promptness and his great attitudes to the nature. He himself picked all the scattered polythene in the place while attending to all our relevant needs. I suggest all tourists to receive this wonderful experience.

Lovely hideout, Located just about at the singharajara entrance, we went there last month so much friendly staff, that lady and Tikira (not remember the exact name) were awesome throughout our stay, so i can say all are wonderful, you will feel the nature there, of course, can feel the freedom you never had.rooms and foods also superb.so guys if you looking for getting wild experience that will be the good destination, I highly recommended this location and staff

- We had planned a romantic valentine's day getaway but instead our 2 deluxe rooms were given to somebody else.
Didn't get an apology or any kind of offer because of this. The manager and the owners were particularly unpleasant and rude (as if this was our fault).
We stayed in a different hotel for the first night. Never came across quite such disregard for a guest.

The only thing they wanted to know was when we'll have a hike in the national park so they can get more.
The second day of our stay we got in our rooms. But keep in mind that the list of things provided is not accurate. We didn't had a bath (just a shower), tea/coffee maker, mosquito net and few other small things (half of the list actually) as well the fully-equipped kitchen with a microwave as they advertise.
We experienced electricity problems twice. Cold shower in both rooms. Highly intrusive building work between 8am-5pm make noise, so don't expect to relax with the
sound of the forest.

Only positive were Hemal, the guide provided, was very knowledgeable about the forest and patientwith us!

We booked 1 family suite and 2 deluxe rooms of this place for 1 night stay full board. We are very disappointed the way owners treated us and way it looked
We booked this through over the phone and the owner send us some nice pictures of the rooms and gave us a price of a luxury hotel. We agreed with the price and expected similar comfort and hospitality, but we realised that he was totally misleading us from the beginning when we arrived. He didn’t even mention about the roads, we really had a hard time to find the direction to go there. There were no single sign board for direction.
There was no power when we go there and we expected generators for the price we paid
Rooms looked disgusting, never vacuumed or mopped, filthy fridge, dirty and mouldy linens, disgusting bathrooms and walls were covered with cobwebs. We know this place is in the jungle but they still can maintain the cleanliness.
Owner didn’t even reply to our messages when we send the pictures. He didn’t even face us when we checkout, he just sent his wife and he only talked over the phone, no apology and no manners at all (both husband and wife). They never accepted the dirtiness of the place and didn’t wanted to go and check about what we are complaining. They both were being very rude to us
They tOtally ruined our holiday. We all had a bad time there, our toddlers and kids had to in sleep in dusty rooms.
Only plus point was the staff, they were very friendly and helpful
We never ever recommend this place to anyone these owners never think about the comfort of there clients, they just need money! This is a fraud! You never get the comfort you expect from this place
