The Rainforest Village

We recently stayed at Cinnamon Village Sinharaja, formerly known as the Rainforest Village. Unfortunately, we were not very impressed with our stay. The room we stayed in was very outdated and had stained bed linen. The overall cleanliness of the room was not great either, and the power cut out in the middle of the night until morning, and they didn’t turn on the generators, making it difficult for my kids to sleep in the humid weather. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice place to stay. It is definitely not worth the money you pay for it.
We booked this based on their reviews, but it was a very disappointing experience.

Calm and quiet place. Delicious food. Very good hospitality and friendly staff. The staff gave us a great support to sort out our vehicle issue.

Beautiful location of very close to sinharaja Pitadeniya entrance. Friendy helpful staff. Owner very helpful. Food set menu. But good. Calm environment. Cabanas & rooms with wooden designed interior & exterior. Not matched expecting level. If possible to added AC & TV it would be fantastic. But can recommend to others who are looking to go Sinharaja rainforest.

Nice place. Calm, clean, beautiful, peaceful, lovely nature, better experience with friendly staff also the owner. Delicious food. Dinner with BBQ, close to sinharaja entrance.

The Rainforest Village gave us a extraordinary experience. Warm welcome done by Priyantha (Chef). We had superb three meals including BBQ. You guys great. We enjoyed a lot.
Clean rooms, beautiful surroundings (Paddy fields, Peacocks). Your food was amazing Priyantha. It was delicious.

Very good location close to singharaja reinforest. Calm, peaceful and quite place.all the staff members are very friendly and they try their best to Provide great service. Specially the manager Mr Nalinda is very kind and friendly person. Foods are delicious. Rooms are ok.no hot water in our villa. Have nice swimming poo but its bit small. All round good hotel for your stay in the area for low rate.

Everything is ok with the rooms and location
The problem is they have only set menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They do not offer buffet.

It's good place, rooms are clean, bathroom is good. (showers has warm water not hot)
We got bed and breakfast, breakfast they had fixed menu which is rice and curry and string hoppers. Dinner they had only variety of fried rices and BBQ. Dining area is good and has a nice view. Pool available. Their service also satifying. Overall for a budget stay, it is good.

We selected the place by looking at the publicly available photos and actual place was much worse than the photos.manages have done a good work with Photoshop to misled people.we requested actual photos of the rooms but received only the edited photos.further, the food was not as advertised and you will not be able to find any food showing in the photos and we didn't even use the pool coz its filled with sand and it was greenish brown (definitely not blue as in the pics ️).
staff and dinner was ok but we received only 2 water bottles for 10 ppl and asked to refill from ground tap if needed.anyway cannot recommend this place.

The taste, quality (BBQ fish and sausages) and portion of food is not enough. Also, there is no concern about the cleanliness of the pool.but place is clean and beautiful.we did not find free WIFI connection or WIFI details, so you can ask management about it. Even if there is a kettle, there is nothing else. Take everything you need to make tea (cups, sugar, tea leaves, milk, coffee)

We stayed in this hotel once and observed that food arrangements for full board basis were poor. By the time we checked in, few of the curries were finished and we had to eat what was left of it. BBQ arrangment at night was ok. But portions were not enogh at all. Morning Breakfast was good.

Rooms had basic utilities. But they have provided only two water bottles for 10 ppl and asked us to refill it by ourselves, which was personally dissapointing.

Rooms don't have even basic facilities. The triple room is very small. We have booked a triple room last minute. After checking the room we decided not to stay. Then they charged us 7000 lkr. Don't be deceived by looking the pictures in the hotel.

It was not satisfied the stay at the place.we had 10 packs and provided room was very unsatisfied.pool was disgusting due to sand was inside the pool and water was not cleaned.food provided was bad.

Located in calm and quiet environment! But Poor road conditions, you have to park your vehicles 2-3km away from the hotel and carry your bags by a their vehicle.   The rooms are basic.  You can order lunch and dinner from the restaurant as well.  The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food delicious.

Nice place! With very much privacy surrounded by nature. The wooden lodges were basic but very clean and had everything we needed. No mosquitoes either!

Well maintaining pool with natural stream water and magnificent view surrounded by mountains and jungle

We stayed there for two nights on full board basis and really enjoyed the time, staff is really friendly and helpful. Not with vast varieties but very tasty & warm Sri Lankan meals were served to us and first night we had a barbecue meal.

We made a nice trekking to “Kekuna Ella” waterfall through Pitadeniya entrance to Sinharaja Forest and had very refreshing bath. The entrance is very close to the hotel

Only negative factor is since the bridge leading to the hotel roadway towards Pitadeniya entrance had been broken at Poddana town. Therefore we had to travel few yards in a muddy road on a rainy day up to the point that hotel provided us shuttle transportation from their vehicle. However this is of course beyond the control of the hotel and they provided us very safe night parking of our vehicle in the town.

Recommended budget hotel which really value for money, for who are willing to travel & stay with the nature!

The beds were really comfortable and they had all essential accessories like towel, bedsheet, electric kettle. And the washrooms were in excellent condition. The food was amazing (i tried the veg fried rice and veg noodles). The pool was warm and nice for a long swim and overall a must visit place. Very good hospitality but only problem is the access way. You cannot take your vehicle there. They take us through a truck in the back where we could enjoy the nature.

This place is a bit far from Colombo and the road is so difficult to drive. It is better to pick this hotel if you are planning to go to Sinharaja Rainforest. Not recommended for a holiday or spend the day.

The bridge to their hotel is broken so we had to park our car at the other side of the river and cross the river using the temporary bridge. Then we have traveled in their Cab. They have not mentioned it at the time we booked and call them. A person with difficult to walk would never cross the river.

Room and the bathroom is very clean. No hot water available in the shower. There is a large garden space with cement benches and table to relax outside.

BeCareful if you stay out side because there are leeches. That can be only on rainy days.

The pool area is clean and beautiful. You can see the forest from there. The pool is about 10m long and about 5feet deep. Nice pool.

We have ordered noodles and fried rice for dinner. The food is not tasty. But the breakfast they provided is tasty. So I recommend you to order traditional Sri Lankan food.

The price of the food is average. The eating area was very clean and you can see a nice view from there.

Their staff is so friendly and the service is excellent. The guy who served us always tried to carry our bags. That’s lovely and very helpful.

Again I recommend this place if you are planning to visit the Rainforest.
