Villa Océane - Madiha Mirissa

We stayed at Villa Océane for 4nights for a relaxing stay at the end of our 2-week trip to Sri Lanka. Weren’t disappointed as we were treated with surfing views everyday (bonus points for turtles bobbing through the waves) room and bathroom are spacious, staff were always kind and polite, service is also very good. If you’re an experienced surfer- Madiha Surf Point is a stone’s throw away as well. We stayed on BB basis and breakfast was very good- starting with fresh juice, coffee or tea, a fruit plate, followed by your preferred eggs. They have this bread basket which is locally sourced, rustic looking, toasty edges but soft insides- so good! Even the donuts and muffin were better than the ones we had in the hotels we stayed in in Sri Lanka. Special mention to Indika for making us feel welcomed as soon as we checked in and assisted us with our scooter rental, as well as booking our whale watching tour. Chamra always served our breakfast and made sure we come home to a clean room everyday. If you want to stay away from all the tourists in Mirissa and don’t mind a short scooter ride (honestly the best way to explore the area) to get there, this is the perfect spot for you. It’s like your own little paradise.

We loved absolutely everything about our stay! The location was amazing, in a quiet area outside Mirissa. The staff were brilliant and looked after us so well. We were half board and the food was delicious, we had beautifully cooked prawns and a whole local fish. I recommend the local specialty curd with treacle for pudding or with breakfast. We saw turtles and enjoyed the company of the hotel dogs! We hope to return soon.

This place is breathtaking! From the moment we walked in and were greeted by a courteous staff we immediately felt like home. Stepping through the room into the ocean is truly mesmerising. The peace and quiet, wild beach and flora around is dreamy to say the least, and the facilities of the villa do match that dream! Incredibly stylish, comfortable and spotless rooms and the com areas, staff is always there for you anything you need, breakfast was outstanding. It couldn’t recommend it more - and special shout out to all people working there, unfortunately I didn’t take the names - but you know who you are and we can’t thank you enough for this unforgettable experience.

A splendid little retreat to rest and relax. The beach is right in front of the pool, and so it really creates a lovely environment to relax. The staff was very nice and always checking if we needed something, making sure everything was always perfect. Breakfast was very good. So, a great place to come and relax, about 10 mins from Mirissa by tuktuk. Surely a place to comeback!

Stayed here for three nights at the end of our stay in Sri Lanka and would definitely recommend it. The accommodation, staff and food were great and you can surf Madiha Point right in front of property (reef boots might be useful as you have to walk over the reef to paddle out). Would definitely recommend and would come back if we are in Sri Lanka again.

The location and views of the ocean are exceptional. The staff were incredibly warm, kind, thoughtful and cheerful - they anticipated and looked after our every need. The rooms are spacious and furnished beautifully. Their in-house chef makes the most delightful food across a wide range of cuisines. We especially loved their authentic Sri Lankan items that were made on request by us. This is one of the best stay experiences we have had so far.

Room is nice although seen through if you are placed downstairs as there are doors on two sides. Swimming in the sea was impossible in December due to sharp rocks and strong waves. People were surfing though. Overpriced for what you get.

Selected the place for a work trip with 11pax. The property is located in a stunning location in Mirissa called "Madiha surfing point". The place is well kept and maintained. The staff is friendly and attentive. Property manager "Charith" made sure that we are having a good time during the stay. The food could be improved. We got a special BBQ dinner and next day lunch. The breakfast was amazing but the BBQ and lunch could have been better. One room had an AC issue, even though Charith attended to the issue promptly nothing could be done in the 11th hour so one of our team members had to move out out the room.

Very lovely and cozy beach house right at the ocean where you will wake up to sea turtles diving for treats or surfers hunting for amazing waves right in front of the terrace. The friendliness of the staff was exceptional as well as the treats and meals during the day. Great finish of our trip.

The staff is top notch! They are listening to their customers and do their best efforts to please you. The villa is nice, clean and feels like home because there are just a few rooms.
Rooms are a bit small. Note that you can’t swim in the ocean in front of the villa because there are huge rocks.

Pros:
- Very nice location (right in front of a surfing spot)
- we were lucky to spot many turtles
- big and clean pool to swim
- awesome Sri Lankan breakfast (western is available too)
- you can hear the ocean at night
- only five rooms in total which is why this place will never get crowded
- nice restaurants in the neighborhood
- walkable distance to the famous Old Doctors House
- clean and tidy rooms
- last but not least very FRIENDLY and WELCOMING staff

Cons:
- a bit more privacy in the morning would be nice (e.g. Laying breakfast table before being awake)
- I believe this place is due for a maintenance run after this season (wood panels, painting of table/chairs/window frame)
- it would be great if the little beach stretch could be taken care of as well

Lovely small hotel with direct access to the beach and infinity pool. He staff is very friendly and helpful with any request. The sunset is delightful and you can surf right in front of it! Highly recommended.

Very nice small hotel (5 rooms) with lovely people working in there. The breakfast is really good as well they even have soft muffins for breakfast!

Whenever you are in Matara, you need to book this place, really amazing and it's just on the beach
