It's a Hindu religious place. Very famous among the Hindu people. Non Hindu people also visiting this place with different believing s.

We went there on 05th of june. There was a function with local tamil people with indian tamil people. Had a great experience of their culture. About 8-10 laks of people gather to this function in kannagi amman kovil at Mullaitivu. Even people from India also come to this place. They have a special ritual at the end of the pooja which is done in the Nandikadal lagoon.

A cultural icon in a great location. It's a must see if you travel to this part of the world. A special place for a lot of devotees

Vattrappalai kannaki amman Kovil is a ancient Hindu temple. Recently I have visited this temple after long time they are renovating the temple is look beautiful than before the renovation still not completed yet. Peaceful and spiritual place must have to visit. There is a story about the god in the temple while entering the temple it’s on left side of the place.

Vattapalai Kannaki amma temple is located in Vatta palai in Mullaitivu district. (5Km away from Mullaitivu Town)
Every year there is an celebration on 'Vaikaasi Visakam'.
Vattapalai Amman is believed to be a deity of myths, mysteries and miracles. Vaikasi Visakam Pongal Thiruvilla is the main festival, which is held in May.

One of the most beautiful kovils I have been to. The architecture here is simply amazing.painting work is still ongoing but most of the sculptures and mouldings are completed. Located about 7KM from Mullativu but it is definitely a must visit of you are in the area.

வேண்டுவார்க்கு வேண்டுவன அருளும் கண்ணகை அம்மா. பல பகுதிகளில் இருந்தும் மக்கள் பக்தர்கள் தேடி ஓடி வந்து அம்மாவின் அருளுக்காக தவம் கிடக்கும் புனித தலம் இந்த இடம்.

ஆரம்பகாலத்தில் விவசாயிகளால் ஆரம்பிக்கப்பட்ட பொங்கல் வழிபாடானது பின்னர் 1950 களில் வாரம் ஒருநாள் என்ற வழிபாடாகி பின்னர் வேதாகம வழிப்படி முறையான பூசைகளுடன் ஆரம்பிக்கப் பட்டது. 1958 களில் ஆலயபரிபாலன சபையின் கீழ் கொண்டுவரப்பட்டு திங்கள் வெள்ளி தோறும் விசேட அபிசேகம் என்ற முறையில் ஆலய வழிபாடுகள் நடைபெறத் தொடங்கின. இவ்வாலயமானது ஆங்கிலேயர் காலத்திலேயே பிரபலமாக விளங்கியது. இவ்வாலயத்தை தமிழர்கள் மாத்திரமன்றி சிங்களவர்களும் வழிபட்டு வருகின்றனர். உள்நாட்டுப் பிரச்சினைகள் மூலம் ஆலயம் பலமுறை சேதமாகிய போதிலும் 2002 ஆண்டு சமாதான ஒப்பந்தத்தின் பின்னர் மீண்டும் புனரமைக்கப்பட்டு வருகின்றது. இதன் இராஜ கோபுரமானது 2006 ஆம் ஆண்டு நிறைவடைய இருந்தபோதிலும் இலங்கை அரசின் விடுதலைப் புலிகள் கட்டுப்பாட்டுப் பகுதிகளுக்கு விதிக்கப்பட்ட பொருட்தடைக் காரணமாக நிலவிவரும் சீமேந்து தட்டுப்பாடு காரணமாக இராஜகோபுர வேலைகள் முழுமையடையவில்லை.
ஆனால் இன்று யுத்தம் நிறைவடைந்தா பின்னார் அனைத்து வேலைகளும் முடிவடைந்து விட்டாது.

Situated in Mullaitivu, Vattappalai Kannakki Amman Temple is dedicated to Goddess Kannakki Amma. According to Karna legend, Kannaki from Madurai arrived in Sri Lanka and rested in ten different places. The tenth place she visited was named Paththam-Palai (Paththam – tenth, Palai – residence). As the Pongal festival was about to begin, Sri Lanka Air Force helicopters sprinkled flowers from above and sanctified the event further, amidst loud religious prayers of the devotees as flowers started settling
