Camellia Hills

We visited Camellia Hills as apart of a tour of Sri Lanka and were hugely impressed with our experience. This is one of the best locations we have ever stayed at, with luxurious rooms, great food and friendly service. We will always remember the sunrise walks in the plantations, the temperate climate, the great visits to local attractions (such as the tea factory and boat trip), the stunning views and the lovely area.

Camellia Hills is a luxurious boutique hotel overlooking Castlereagh Reservoir. You can spend your vacation in an environment where warm sunshine is mixed with cool breeze. Wherever you look, you see only a green environment. Words cannot describe the healing it gives to the eyes. We can also experience how the English lived in these areas during the colonial period.

Wow! Absolute luxury. Amazing views over the tea plantation and the lake. Room was so comfortable and the food was amazing (and very plentiful). Staff were very attentive and the suggested walk we went in was excellent.

Very unique hotel located in a very beautiful isolated green lush overlooking a nice lake. The hotel rooms are very well designed with beautiful decoration and furniture. The view towards the lack is spectacular and unique. Bathroom has a good size and shower area is nice and very well designed. Breakfast is also outstanding with many selections and varieties. Dining is also outstanding with very delicious food.

The staff are very friendly and enquiries are met with a swift response and hospitality staff are well versed on the offerings.

The only drawback is the road to the property which is bothersome and needs pavement improvements. Also, the hotel should provide free accommodation to the private driver.

Camellia Hills is set amidst sweeping hills of tea plantations. The views are stunning, overlooking a vast river, beautiful mountains, and the ability to see gorgeous sunsets and sunrises. The climate is less hot than the city, which gives much needed relief from other areas of Sri Lanka in the late spring. The sounds of nature surround you, hiking is available as well as other small local journeys. This location is out of the way through winding beautiful roads and is worth staying for multiple nights. The staff is beyond amazing. They learn what you want very quickly, engaging in friendly and meaningful conversation from the moment you arrive. Each day their service puts you first and they are always keen on providing you with the food you like, and attentive to your comforts. The boutique hotel offers a nice pool, various lounging areas to read and relax, and gps phones for hiking. It is an intimate setting and easy to get to know other travelers who are there at the same time from all over the world. The food is excellent. We had a private cooking demonstration by the chef and his assistant. You can order anything from any of the menus any time day or night. Their kitchen staff works tirelessly to create amazing food, which can also be tailored to any specific dietary needs. Because the food is prepared fresh, and made for each individual person’s requirements. It does take a while to arrive. The staff usually asks throughout the day what you might want for your breakfast, lunch or dinner in order to prepare ahead of time, but each dish is created fresh at the moment be prepared to enjoy a nice drink, some wonderful fresh baked bread and conversation before your meal arrives. Our room was sensational. We had our own private patio, and beautiful views over the lake. The room had every amenity one would need, I’m a bit picky about my bed not being too hard, but they immediately brought two down blankets, and remade the bed to my comfort level. Tea and coffee are available in your room. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone traveling throughout Sri Lanka as it gives a very good feel for the local culture, those who work in the tea fields, and what pristine nature feels like in the interior of the country.

The most stunning hotel with the most breath-taking views. Camallia Hills is truly unique and such a special to stay. Our bedroom was spectacular and the service and staff were brilliant. We had a wonderful holiday in January in a comfortable suite surrounded by amazing views. This is a place you can relax just sitting in the veranda area, pampered by willing staff. There are also out door activities and hikes for the enthusiast.

This is easily one of the best hotels I have visited in Sri Lanka. The fresh air, Tasty food, Stunning view of the lake and the greenery above all the friendly staff make me want to visit again. Highly recommended

Camellia Hills is one of the best places I have ever visited for many reasons. Located in the Norwood estate fronting the Castlereigh Lake, it has a stunning view with quiet and tranquil surroundings. We stayed in the Osborne Suite and the room was super clean and tidy. The room downstairs has the best view so make sure to check that as well when making a booking. There's an infinity pool (1.4m max depth) with a stunning view. The living area of the villa is cozy and comfortable. The staff was one of the best we have ever met. The manager Mr. Krishantha was extremely friendly and helped us throughout our stay. Raveen and Rasanjana provided us with exceptional service. Kudos to the staff for making our stay pleasant. The food was exquisite! We wanted to compliment the chef and the kitchen staff multiple times as the food was extremely delicious and fresh. Camellia Hills is one of the best places to stay in if you're around Hatton. Thank you for hosting us and for the exceptional service. Highly recommended.

What a magical place. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Amila, Kushan and team took care of us brilliantly.

Food was best and tasty. Chef personally asked our requirement. Staff was highly professional and trained, especially the butler and the chef.

LOCATION! This is wbat srilanka is all about. The surrounding is so beautiful that you even see it in your dreams! Waterfalls, lakes, mountains you name it!
Great hotel and it was a wonderful stay! Friendly staff, Nuwan, Tharindu and Amila. Love their food and hospitality. Ideal for a family getway. 5 rooms which can accommodate up to about 12 people. Clean and Comfy rooms.
Try to go there in a big vehicle, jeep is better. Roads can be slippery and dangerous. Lots of leeches during the rainy season. Unpredictable weather so be prepared for everything.

Middle of a tea state, waking up to the reservoir surrounded by mountains.quite friendly welcoming staff with an excellent chef! Rooms are pretty clean and warming to stay.getting there, better to check for the best route from the bungalow.its bit confusing and the roads are not good from one direction.

The view of Castlereagh is spectacular.
The food is pretty decent as well as the service.

Best place for your holidays. Can have a nice view of Castlereigh Reservoir. Additionally you can have a boat experience in Castlereigh. Nice location for tourism

Wow, tranquil, comfortable, relaxing, idyllic are just a few words that I would use to describe the villa nestled in a private tea estate, 3km access road is a challenge hence I would advise 4WD only, the villa is well equipped with multiple lounge areas a nice pool and a garden area to walk around. Chef Sampath did a remarkable job, food preparation was exceptional, Anjan and his staff managed everything well and the service was good as well. Overall great place which I would highly recommend for a weekend getaway.

Place is really beautiful, food is amazing and the staff is friendly and helpful.

Only problem is the last 3km of the road. You'll face few difficult points if you got a car with low ground clearance. Also at the last turn there is no sign board on the road. So it's better if you call them for the directions.

10/10. The best experience I have had in srilanka. The service was impeccable. The view is stunning! Great food. Could not have asked for anything more. Highly recommend! The road to the property is not in the best condition.
