Ceylon Tea Trails- Dunkeld Bungalow reviews
21This is probably my favourite bungalow compared to the 4 bungalows. The service is impeccable and the staff is very friendly. All the best
Beautiful location and great service by Janaka and the other staff. The chef was very accommodating, his cooking skills are another level. All in all we had a superb weekend!
I had the absolute pleasure of visiting one of the most beautiful places on earth, Dunkeld Estate which sits proudly overlooking the calm waters of Castlereagh Lake surrounded by mesmerizing views of humongous green-velvety mountains that grandly rise to the clear blue skies. Not only was the scenery breathtaking, but the bungalow holds a tone of rich serenity and is tastefully decorated, amazingly comfortable, clean, and subtlety spoke of luxury in every detail.
If you wander in the lush wilderness you'd be able to get a glimpse of the resilient leopards on their majestic hunt. The staff graciously pointed to us the hiking, trekking, and biking trails that led us through the heavenly greens of the Castlereigh Reservoir and connected pathways to the other four grand bungalows secretly nestled in the valley.
The very informative Tea Factory tour led by Barnard who is a connoisseur showed us how the rich liquor was created, with thorough processing, grading, and tasting of the finely plucked tea leaves.
Our evenings were spent either enjoying a silent game of chess, or we got the balls rolling in the cozily-built billiard room. The well-lit fireplace lifted the atmosphere, and we gathered around it to enjoy a drink we poured from the bar in-house. The spa services were amazing and the services were offered by true professionals.
The staff was very accommodating, kind, caring, and offered a very professional service. We enjoyed scrumptious food prepared for us by Chef Ravi Chandra and Janaka the Butler, Lahiru, Chamara & Umesh, the House Attendants were very helpful and attentive to our every need.
A heartfelt note of appreciation to Dilmah Group of Companies for their invaluable services in taking care of fauna flora as well as the numerous projects that assist preserve the Sri Lankan traditions and culture.
I look forward to visiting the heavenly Dunkeld Estate again to delve and savor the beautiful nature, & its creations and to indulge in the luxuriousness of Dunkeld Bungalow with its amazing staff.

Stayed two nights in the Dunkeld bungalow in May in the Anderson room with all inclusive
It is probably the best bungalow as it has the highest views of the tea plantation
The stay was amazing with warm hospitality and excellent service by the butler and staff
The food was delicious and the waitstaff made many cocktails throughout our stay. They were proactive and made our experience very pleasant
We went kayaking in the good weather which I highly recommend
The tea factory was educational and the guide was entertaining
We walked between the bungalows and enjoyed the views and fauna available
The roads are bumpy in the area
One of the five Resplendent Ceylon tea bungalows in the area. Spectacular views, kind and attentive staff, amazing food!
The place is absolutely divine! Whilst we are experienced travelers and coming from a hospitality background ourselves, must say this place is one of the most unforgettable places we've been to. The quality of air is unbelievably sweet- infused with perfume of blossoming tea fields and flowers. Waking up to a gentle symphony of birds singing their love songs in the mornings. Pristine nature with stunning views. Cracking wood in a fireplace to the sounds of classic jazz at night. Mindblowing food and top notch wines and spirits. And of course the most hospitable and warm-hearted team- Nilantha and his team took such a great care of us and made us feel so welcome that it felt like home.
Outstanding! From the service to the food quality and the tranquility of the location, simply outstanding. Sanath the bungalow manager and his team was simply exceptional, looking into every single detail to make our stay wonderful, Head Chef Ranil Prasanna marvelled us from breakfast, lunch, high tea to dinner. Starting from breakfast, the croissants which are the best in Sri Lanka to the high tea were superb, the pastries along with the scones were exceptional, as well the specialised appetisers created by Chef Ranil at dinner time. Overall it’s a home away from home holiday, well done team tea trails
What an amazing experience to stay here. Superb hospitality, location and ambience. Would love to back again, and relax for a week.
A truly magical experience in the tea trails of Sri Lanka, kayaking on the lake with the Misty air, enjoying fresh tea nonstop BOP1, broken orange pekoe one truly fantastic and fresh from the factory directly below the beautiful bungalow overlooking the lake in the midst of the jungle tea plantations. The best staff an butler service I’ve experienced with impeccable food quality and 24 hour catering unlimited everything.
One of the greatest places we've ever stayed. Amazing attentive staff, stunning views, super comfortable room. The food was also incredible.
Most pictorial place within the area. You will feel like you are resting in the heaven. Infinity view
After a long car ride from Weligama 7.5hrs with a lunch break (take the sea plane note cheaper through the hotel than online) upon arrival it was suddenly totally worth it! After a short boat ride to our Bungalow, Dunkeld we were greeted by Sanjaya the butler you won’t want to leave. The team here are amazing, the service & food is the best we experienced in Sri Lanka- the views, peace & tranquility out of this world. Recommended to stay for 3 nights & get the sea plane.
We have travelled all over the world, never experienced such hospitality, kindness and caring as from the Sri Lankan people. This hotel is a gem, hidden in the mountains with tranquility, peace and quiet that you don’t find anywhere else in the world. Thank you all so much for the experience, we will be returning.
A fabulous slice of Victorian life on a mountain side in Sri Lanka. Perfectly preserved and presented by great staff. Drive from Colombo is a 4.5 hour drag so Cinnamon Air is an option.
Incredible place, loved every minute of it. The fireflies surrounding the pool during a late evening swim made it very memorable!
This is probably one of the top five places I've been to in the world! The scenery is breathtaking! The staff and the house are awesome! I hope I can come back one day!
We only stayed here for a quick lunch, after the tea factory tour, but the service and food were beyond impeccable.
What a place! Amazing service and you will everything there is to know about tea in the most luxurious way there is
This heaven on earth. Probably the best hotel I have stayed at. Authentic, with food and service that makes one not want to leave.
