Cottage San Francesco reviews
25Crazy view from the balcony. Jacuzzi bath. Very welcoming hosts. The food is delicious. The bed is royal. Blanket, royal pillows.
This was hard for us to find, but once we did we were welcomed by Benedict the Butler and the owner. Lucky Benedict carried our luggage up the 3 flights of stairs. We had the 4 rooms on the top floor. The views are amazing. Benedict was very helpful. Our rooms were very neat and today with lovely flowers on the bed each evening.
We were here for 4 nights over New Year and it very relaxing. The food was amazing and so much of it. It’s home cooked and very delicious. We also had beer and wine each evening. You pay for the dinner and alcohol but at a very reasonable cost. The children, Alexander and his brother (sorry not sure his name) were a delight. I got to play cards with Alexander, it was lovely.
My only criticism was the lighting up stairs when eating. It needs better lighting.
The showers weren’t very hot, but there was 6 of us. I can thoroughly recommend this place. Great owners. Thank you.
The hotel/Cottage San Francesco is one of the most wonderful/comfy/startling rooms to put up for the moment. This was my immediate reflex. The sentry of the location was loneliness. The moment we entered the precinct we were awestruck.
The architectural medallion of the house was superb. That, of course, has a direct bearing of choice of the family.
The wolves of remembrance still floats like the rapid flying cloud in the firmament.
It needs just a singleness of mind to overview such a far reaching stare of the rooms. This hardly comes second time!
The couple was supererogatory. The Van driver the landlord arranged was very much accommodating.
The continental breakfast was just beautiful. The surrounding was very attractive. The memory we nurtured and cherished was undiminishing. The Cottage was away from the town and the route was narrow. That enhanced our curiosity and charisma. It was cloud capped when we put up in the month of November. That owned our bonhomie.
A beautiful place with stunning views. Brilliant cleaning and the owners are very nice and try to help. A little far from the city.
The staff are kind
Bedding is smooth
Breakfast is good
The view is good (although it is a bit out of the way)

We enjoyed our stay.room is clean and spacious.the wood interior is amazing. The owner is very kind and welcoming. Highly recommended
It was a family trip with friends. There were 3 kids among us. Booked the full cottage and stayed, should say that we got full privacy. Very quiet place and clean too. But not so kid-friendly. There were windows which are accessible by kids and the outside is really dangerous. But when we asked them to seal it they did as we requested. Steps to enter the cottage are also not so safe for small kids. They have a separate room kinda property too, the view from that place is better than the cottage. Breakfast was good on the 1st day. But the 2nd day was not so good 1/2 of the items we got on the 1st day were missing.
We really enjoyed staying at Cottage San Francesco - because of the location of the Hotel we could enjoy a wonderful view over the pretty landscape. The breakfast was DELICOUS and absolutly great. I also really liked the lovely decorated and newly renovated rooms with fresh flowers. I also really liked the owners: when he found out that I absolutly adore dogs, I was allowed to meet their pretty golden retrievers) Thanks for the great stay!
Beautiful property managed by a lovely hospitable owner and staff. We felt as if we were in a chalet in the alps, with modern hardwood interiors and facilities that are in perfect shape. This was also the most comfortable bed we have slept in during our travels throughout Asia.
With poor weather conditions we decided in during the evening and they cooked us a delicious local curry meal in line with our vegan dietary requirements. The breakfast was delicious and impressively copious!
We couldn’t recommend Cottage San Francesco highly enough for a stay in Nuwara Eliya.
We stayed here for one night and found the place to be new and very clean, not to mention the spectacular view from our room's balcony. We paid for bed and breakfast and were told that we would be served English breakfast the next day. We stayed in many hotels, and English breakfast is something we are very familiar with. The problem was that they served two types of breakfasts for Sri Lankans and foreigners. We were served pancakes with a small amount of treacle, French toast with marmalade, fried eggs, sandwiches, and some toast without anything to eat with, not even butter. That was all we got, and we had to microwave some leftover pizza from the night before. However, after our breakfast, we noticed that they were serving the proper English breakfast, which included cornflakes, sausages, bacon, eggs, a fruit platter, and everything else for the foreigners, It is intolerable that they treat Sri Lankans and foreigners differently.

We stayed for a 4 nights and really enjoyed it. Good place for Very nice and clean place, build in European style. The owner is helpful and arranged everything we wanted. The breakfast was included and it was very good. Recommended! Great place to stay in Nuwara Eliya.
360 view. Attik rooms were the best. There are two
Establishments. Remember to request for the new building if you are planning to go. Its really modern and beautiful. Got B&B. English Breakfast was morethan adequate. Family run business as i know. Very nice atmosphere. Views are the best. B&B 8500 double sharing at the time of our visit.
Our stay at the cottage was really good, foods were super delicious and had the beautiful view. Location was very calm. Rooms were very clean and tidy.
Personally i love the architectural structure that they have used to design the cottage. Host was really supportive and friendly he arranged everything properly as we expected.
One of the best hotels I’ve ever been privileged enough to stay at. Gorgeous cottage. High quality accommodation as well as high quality service. The food is absolutely amazing. Very calm & quiet place in beautiful surrounding. We planned to stay two nights but finally we stayed for three nights. Mr. Asitha & his family went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. Thank you! Will recommend for anyone who visits Nuwara Eliya.
An amazing experience. There are 2 cottages, we stayed in the newer one.
Location is not far from town, if you have a vehicle.
Very tastefully done interior with all luxuries that a great hotel experience requires.
The owner was friendly and service was 5 stars. Will visit again!
Highly recommended
Absolutely loved it. We were initially a bit concerned with the comments on the road leading up to the cottage but I can safely say the road is been done, it's a bit narrow but it's cozy, beautiful and away from the central city [about 10mins] on top a small mountain area. View was absolutely breathtaking. Asitha and his wife [the Hosts] were very accommodative and a special thank you to Thoshi who was there attending to our needs on call.
We will definitely go back:) :)
We stayed at the cottage with a group of 7 for 3 days (long weekend). The cottage has spacious rooms, fresh linen, clean bathrooms with hot water and ample parking. It has a small but cozy living area and a dining area. Asitha is a great host who ensured all our requests were met and together with Thooshi (his help) made sure we were comfortable. Asitha was helpful to arrange extra meals we requested, with customizations. We met two lovely golden retrievers who live on the property (separately) which made our weekend even more awesome. The location is a little away from N’eliya town which was perfect for us because we wanted to be away from bustle of the town. However made our options for sourcing food very limited but N’eliya PizzaHut delivered there. The access road is narrow but we didn’t have any trouble getting there by cars even during heavy rain. Definitely would recommend for small groups and we’re looking forward to go back again.
Very good rooms with the food. Located far away from the city. Awesome scenic beauty. Located in the mountains,
