14Once the trek to Sri Padaya from Nallathanniya begins, a massive Makara Thorana will be star the point
The experience was amazing. Sri pada is considered one of the most sacred places of Sri Lankan Buddhists. It is believed that the footprint of Lord Buddha was placed there. Thousands of people of every beliefs visit the place once a year. Sri pada season is held only six months from January to May.
A sight you shouldn't miss. While trekking Sri Pada via Hatton road you'll come across a spectacular archway known as Makara Thorana.

While trekking up Adam’s Peak via the Hatton-Talanthiya road, a splendid archway known as Makara Thorana in Sinhalese, can be witnessed at the foot of the mountain.
This archway is actually a memorial. It was built in to commemorate the day when Adam’s Peak was first illuminated (March 4,1950) with electricity generated by the Laxapana power station, the first hydroelectric power station in Sri Lanka

This is the entry point of the Sri Pada.
Giant entrance to the religious and historical place.
Everyone use to have selfy there to mark the start of the long journey.
Lot of stalls available to take foods and beverages.
And you can have ornaments to remember the place. But keep in mind to take them when you come back. Otherwise you have carry them for 4-5 hrs journey of 7 km climb.
Please note that picture is taken by my friend.
The entry point for Adam's Peak Pilgrimage (ශ්රී පා වන්දනාව) in Hatton Route. There are lots of shops and outlets to fill your stomach and empty your wallet. Please dispose plastic and polythene waste in the provided bins only. Try to take the waste you bring. Please refrain from eating non-vegetarian items or drink alcohol. Behave in a way to maintain the holiness of this place
This is the main entrance to the Adams Peak. When you come though Muskeliya, Sri Pada Rd, You will get there
This is a historical and huge stone arc. You can see this if you go from the Sri Padaya from Nallathanniya side. This is the main gateway to SriPada (Adamspeak). Some military posts are here too. This archway is actually a memorial. It was built in to commemorate the day when Adam’s Peak was first illuminate in 1950. Now there are some statues of Lord Buddha and also some of Gods' statues available here.
