Ranamune Raja Pihilla, Kothmale.

A cool place to have a bath. Only about 100 M walking distance from the road. It has made with stones remaining the historic feeling as it is. Surrounded by a beautiful paddy fields and there is rest room (AMBALAMA) adjoining the PIHILLA.

It is a jetty built with water flowing from a natural spring which is believed to have been used for bathing when Prince Gemunu was hiding in Kotmale area. There are two separate tracks for women and men and a small ambalam to see. Kothmale Reservoir is within sight in the middle of a beautiful Helmalu paddy field. This place can be reached from the road side about 200 meters through the paddy field. Perfect for bathing.

Historical site with senic veiw. From the road one has to walk about 200m thru the paddyfeild to get there. Water is refreshing and cold.

සිතුවමක් මෙන් අලංකාර මනරම් කුඹුරු යායක් මධ්‍යයේ පිහිටා තිබෙන මෙම ස්ථානයට ලඟාවීමට එකී කුඹුරු යාය හරහා පටු අඩිපාරක් තිබේ. උලපනේ සිට පුස්සැල්ලාව දක්වා ගමන් කරන මාර්ගයේ අසිරිය විඳිමින් ගමන් කරන්නෙකුට කොත්මලේ ජලාශය පසුකර මඳ දුරක් ගිය විට මෙකී ස්ථානයට ලඟා විය හැකිය.
කොත්මලේ, ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ඉතිහාසය පුරාවෘත්ත රැසකින් පෝෂණය කල ප්‍රදේශයක් යයි කිවහොත් එය අරුමයක් නොවේ. විශේෂයෙන් මහාවංස පලමු කොටසේ වීරයා වූ ද්ටුගැමුණු රජුගේ තරුණ කාලය ගත කළ ප්‍රදේශය වශයෙන් සැලකෙන මෙහි එතුමාගේ ජීවිතය සහ බැඳුණු ස්ථාන කිහිපයක්ම පවතින බවට විශ්වාස කෙරේ. රණමුනේ ග්‍රාමයේ ඇති රජ පිහිල්ල නමින් හඳුන්වන දිය පිහිල්ල එවන් එක් ස්ථානයකි. වර්තමානයේ ප්‍රදේශවාසීන් ස්නානය සඳහා භාවිතා කරන මෙය නවීකරණය කර ඇතත් මෙකී දිය පිහිල්ල සහ අසල ඇති අම්බලම පුරාවිද්‍යා ස්මාරක ලෙස ස්ථාපනය කර තිබේ.

This place is a historical land mark where when King Dhutugamu stayed in Kothmale. This Raja Pihilla having really fresh and cold water to have a great reheshing shower. The place is used by locals around the area so give them freedom to wash them and their cloths. Do not bring any polythnes to the environment. You need to park the vehicle on the road and have to walk around 250m's through paddy fields. Advise to visit on a weekday and early mornings to avoid crowd and waiting time.

Ancient place where Little Dutugamunu used to bath. The view is amazing with the paddy field and Kothmale reservoir.

Lovely experience with extreme experience with the nature. The view is amazing. Place is clean and well maintained by the villagers and no alcohol is permitted withing the area which is a really good decisions. We enjoyed the place really well since we travelled in a weekday. Weekends are rumoured to be crowded.

හොඳටම නාන්න පුළුවන්, පිරිසිදුම වතුර. පීල්ලේ උල්පත ලගමයි තියෙන්නේ. ගමේ කට්ටිය නාන්න එන්නෙත් මෙතනට. ගමේ අය බොන්නෙ වතුර ගන්නේ මෙතනින් ඒක නිසා කරුණාකරලා මෙතන අපිරිසිදු කරන්න එපා. රැක ගත යුතු අපේ උරුමයන්

Calm peace full place. The restaurant along with the paddyfield has Sri Lankan (local) food and beverages. Very frindly people.

This is one of the most beautiful place located near kothmale reservoir, you can bath here also. But floor of this place is slippry. So be careful.

Close to the Thavalantenna Rd off Gampola- Nawalapitiya Rd, You can have a nice cool spring water bath with surrounding serine of nature, some what crowded in weekends

This bathing place is a historical place. It says that King Dutugemnu has used this to bath early days. Having a wonderful view from the place as it is located center of paddy fields and adjacent to the Kotmale tank. Itz water source is a water spring located closer to the place and itz amazing too.

Place is right next along the Kothmale Kandy road in Kothmale. Has a wide view of the paddyfiel and kothemale reservoir.

This is a fine cool place, whare one can relax their mind and soul both.such a calm place, with a vast area of a greeny paddy field and a mountain range at the other side. Actually this is one of the places whare the reledrama called Neela Pabalu at Sirasa tv shot. Other than these things, this place is a historical place in relation to Prince Gemunu.

This is called as raja pilla. Because, King Dutugamunu visited this place to take a bath and take a rest during village travelling. There is an Ambalama also to stay. Now we can enjoy the cool water in here and take beautiful photos in this area.

"Ranamune Pihilla" can be accessed via Ulapane-Pussallawa Road. If you are really interested in the history of this ancient place, you can have a chat with a person in the village, not an outsider. You'll hear amazing stories on how Kotmale evolved, how iron industry evolved and sad truth of King Dutugemunu.
Outsiders ruin this place by having alcohol and dumping garbage. Do not disturb villagers while enjoying the scenery. The bath is surprisingly relaxing! Must try it!
