An ancient archiological buddhist monastery.very calm and quiet

According to legend, the tooth relic of Buddha was brought to Sri Lanka from the port of Lankapatuna in Trincomalee and the procession had traveled though Sapumalgaskada on its way to Anuradhapura. The procession had briefly rested at this site and the relic deposited in a specially built hall and one of the ruined buildings at the site is still called the Dalada Maligawa (relic house).

Very beautiful large ancient buddhist monastery complex with a lot of ruins such as buildings, stupa, ponds, statues etc.

සපුමල්ගස්කඩ පබ්බතාරාමය.

වවුනියාව -බෝගස්වැව මාර්ගයේ කිලෝමීටර 30 ක් පමණ ගෙවාගෙන බොගස්වැවට පැමිණ, වමට ඇති නෙදුන්කෙණි කැලෑ මාර්ගය ඔස්සේ 5 km පමණ පැමිණ තපොවන ආරාම සංස්කෘතියට නිම වූ සපුමල්ගස්කඩ පුදබිමට පැමිණ හැක. සෑය, පිළිමගෙය, සීමා මාලකය ඇතුළු පෞරාණික ගොඩනැගිලි කිහිපයකි. මෙම ගොඩනැගිලි පිහිටි උස් බිම වටලා ආරක්ශිත දිය අඟලකි. අතීතයේ දළඳා වහන්සේ වැඩ සිටියායැයි සම්මත පුදබිම එයට සරිලන ආරක්ෂාවක් තිබූ බවට සාක්ෂි පවතියි. පුදබිම අසලම දිය අඟලට ජලය ලබාදෙන පෙර රජුන් තැනූ සමනළ වැවයි. රජකාලේ ඉදිවූ බිසෝ කොටුවද තවම ඉතිරිව පැවත. ක්‍රි. ව. 1-3 යුගයේ (මුල් යුගයේ) ඉදිකල වු බව පැවසෙන මෙම මනරම් පුදබිම දසක කිහිපයක්ම LTTE කදවුරක්ව පැවතිණි.
