Safa Surf Camp

Awesome experience, loved this surf camp! We received valuable advice and we made good progress during the week. The atmosphere is great and the spot is magnificent! You can even see elephants coming out of the water if you are lucky:) thank you Fawas for this experience.

Unique and incredible experience, difficult to explain in a few words, both in Surfhouse and during the surf courses, the instructors are patient, they encourage you and give you the right charge to do better and better, they were not just "simple surf lessons" but a real experience of life.
The house is very nice, clean and cozy with room for everyone, there is a positive energy and you breathe family air, the location is convenient for everything.
Fawas and the other guys are super nice and present, ready to help you with any difficulties.

It was an amazing experience through and through. I made great progress at surfing going from a Softboard to shorter Hardboard within the time I spent there and learned to catch my own green waves. Time at the camp was so much fun and everyone was really nice. Big recommendation for Arugam Bay:)

I had an absolutely amazing time at SAFA surf camp in Arugam Bay, Sri Lanka! Fawas, our host and surf instructor, was truly exceptional. His hospitality was top-notch, and his surf coaching was instrumental in improving my skills. We had the opportunity to surf twice a day, and the yoga sessions in-between were the perfect balance. The video analysis sessions were incredibly helpful in honing my technique.

The camp's atmosphere is fantastic, thanks in large part to the friendly and helpful staff. It's clear that SAFA attracts wonderful guests, making it easy to connect with amazing people during your stay. One experience that stood out was the beach camping session – a bonfire, BBQ, and karaoke on an incredibly remote beach. It's an absolute must-do and was a definite highlight of my trip.

Thank you, SAFA surf camp, for providing an unforgettable two weeks of surf, relaxation, and great company. I can't wait to return!

Had a great experience at Safa. Location is perfect and the staff are friendly and accommodating. A nice mix of surfing, relaxing and having fun.

Good vibes only at SAFA! Stayed here for 7 nights with a friend and had the most amazing week filled with surfing, camping, yoga and hanging out with the other visitors and local crew. Great location on the beach and out of the main tourist hub.

Epic surf camp! The camp is located just off the main road and on the beach. Was super handy being able to walk to all the cafes & restaurants in between surfing or chill on the beach.

The surf camp starts real early but it’s necessary coz we were in the water way before the other surf camps arrived. It was amazing paddling out as the sun was rising with elephants on our morning commute.

The team were clearly part of the surfing community in Arugam Bay, they had a mates everywhere, which was nice knowing ya not getting ripped off all the time.

They organised our safaris / activities (if we wanted them). They also organised transport from Colombo to Arugam Bay, which was flexible (we asked to be leave Colombo at 0500 to make the arvo surf session)

The vibe at the camp is really laid back (never pressured to utilise their services unless we wanted too), the video sessions were handy & the feedback was helpful to see where you could improve. The yoga was spot on and a nice to complement the 2 surfs a day.

We went out with all the gang one night it was absolute chaos!

They also offered a camping trip if enough people were keen and apparently it was a hoot.

The only recommendation I’d say is bring your own board if your an intermediate surfer. They have boards there, however, there isn’t the largest selection. There are boards in town if you wanna hire them but there isn’t heaps on offer.

Well-organized surf camp with very valuable video evaluations.
Surfers of all levels can benefit a lot from the two surf sessions per day. Daily yoga helps to prepare well for surfing. The parties in the evening brought us together as a group. All in all, a very successful week that I would book again in a heartbeat.

I had an amazing time at SAFA surf camp! Favas was an amazing host and surf teacher, super friendly and inclusive, very relaxed and easy going. His team, Nilu, Nowas, Rahim and the Chef were all awesome too, they made the place feel like home. The accommodation is right in the beach in cute little cabanas, minimalistic but having everything you need. Perfect spot to relax, catch some green water, and even go on a 'surf-ari'. Thanks for your hospitality!

Amazing surf camp. Our teachers Fawas and Rashid were always very helpful and amazingly friendly! Depending on the conditions we would go to different spots to catch the best waves possible. They were always in the water with us and gave us tips and tricks to improve our surf. Highly recomend!

Quiet place right on the beach! Arrived there just in the beginning of the season = end of april.it was noticeable that after a very long break due to covid not everything was perfect.they work on it! Spectacular daily surfaris (we met peacocks, kingfisher, bee-eaters, thousands birds, sometimes the elephant plus monkeys and many more on the way) early in the morning was just the best start to hop into the ocean.its warmth embraced me and got me ready to start to surf.great for beginners:) i met wonderful people at the camp and had a truly great time.thank you very much for everything:)

I had the best time at Safa Surf Camp. I arrived spontaneously a day before my booking and decided to stay more than double the time I originally booked. Fawas was very flexible and always eager to exceed my expectations. The team and their friends were just great and I had so much fun cooking with them, singing, dancing, movie nights or just having some drinks and talks. I would recommend everyone to enjoy the place and people at Safa. And I hope I can come back soon!

Had and amazing week at Saffa surf camp. The staff and coaches are amazing and so supportive. Fabulous location, right on the beach and close to lots of great places to eat. I will definitely be back ‍️

I just stayed with my boyfriend for 2 weeks at safa surfcamp in Arugam Bay. We had the best time with Favas and his team either in the water or at gatherings in the camp. The camp is situated just in front of the beach which allows you a swim into the sea at anytine you wish.
I learnt more about surfing as expected and improved my surfing skills a lot. I appreciated the way they taught us with their friendly and open nature. We felt absolutely welcome and will for sure come back as soon as possible.

My girlfriend and I are staying here at Safa Surf Camp in Arugambay for two weeks and enjoy surf and yoga lessons. We learn everything about surfing out in the sea, in theory classes or as video feedback. Fawas and his team are giving their best to meet and top our expectations. Eventhough the country is struck by an economic crisis, the Safa crew as well as the other locals here are as friendly as they could be and make you feel so welcome. We are having a great time and a holiday we will never forget.

We have been waiting on a refund for months due to not being able to attend. We were promised weeks ago that a refund would take place and they did not. Would not recommend

We had an amazing stay at safa surf Camp. If you are really into surfing and want to learn it fast, than safa surf is your best Option in arumgam bay. Especially the sunrise Surf Sessions we're great because less people around! Fawas is a really good Surf instructor, he knows the ocean and give precise instructions. We felt very safe in the water. Breakfast an Dinner we're also delicous:) we will come back!

We stayed at the surfcamp for a few days and had a great time. Fawas and his team are very friendly, reliable and make everything possible. My boyfriend and I improved our surfing skills a lot. Surflessons and vibe in the water are fun! Highly recommended!

Fawas and Rashnee are amazing teachers! I didn’t stay here but wished I had…I took 5 lessons with the guys which included video and photo analysis. They took me to a few different locations and really spent a long time trying to improve my surf. Would recommend!
