Tropicana Home Stay

What a wonderful place. Such a lovely and helpful family is running this place. We felt so welcome and easy at this place. The room is very comfortable, spacious and clean. Everything seems to be new and of good quality. The host family invited us for dinner and they also gave us a cooking lesson. We also rented a scooter at their place and a their small supermarket is just next door. Also surrounded by many restaurants and shops and just two minutes from the beach. In the evening its a quite place. Everything we could wish for.

Extremely nice people, very helpful and hospitable. My best friend and I stayed here for 2 nights and had a wonderful time during those days. We had surfing lessons from one of the employees. And went on a lagoon safari. A nice room and good location. In my opinion, definitely recommended.

We didn't sleep here but we were helped with a taxi at 11pm for a 1: 30 start the next morning. It worked out great with this company. Thanks again.

Of arugam Bay only 20m from the beach. Very nice family that make you feel at home and help with what you need.

If you walk just 5 minutes on the beach to left side you see a lot of buffelo in the water bathing.

We were welcomed with open arms and included in the warm family. We have made real friends from our stay at Tropicana, words cannot describe how wonderful our stay was, but we will try. You can book surfing lessons at Tropicana itself, you will receive lessons from Risy and Jehiya; the nicest surf teachers in Arugam Bay who will also take you if an elephant has been spotted nearby or to beautiful viewpoints. The last evening (twice) we went to the market with Jazz and Risy and made a delicious chicken BBQ and played games. The spacious rooms are fully equipped and within walking distance of the beach and nice cafes in A-bay, yet quietly located. The homestay also offers services such as shared taxi and laundry service, which was very nice. We extended our stay by three nights because it was so nice and there was a lot to do in the area.

The best tip for A-bay: stay at Tropicana!

Great, very well-kept and clean accommodation, centrally located between the beach and the main street, where there are many shops, cafes and restaurants! The WiFi worked very well! The breakfast was also varied and freshly prepared. We booked great surfing lessons through the helpful and caring accommodation owner, Jazz! The driver who drove us to the beach, Rizzy, a family friend, was also super nice and helpful! At lunchtime we cooked and ate together with the Bryani family. That was one of our highlights. The whole stay was very warm. Clear recommendation!

We stayed as a couple for 3 nights. The first night we slept in the old room without air conditioning. This room does not align with this review, but the 2 nights after that there was space in the new rooms. They are absolutely recommended.

The owners are friendly and we were even invited to cook/eat with them.

There is also a small supermarket next to the residence and you can also have your laundry done at the residence.

From the residence you can walk to the beach in 2 minutes and to the busiest part of Arugam Bay in 5-10 minutes.

You can book breakfast at the accommodation, but there are also various eateries opposite and further down the street.

We ate our breakfast at "Mama's".

Stayed in a budget room. Room had only a fan and was in a poor state. Had not been looked after and wasn’t cleaned to a good standard. My partner got ill during our stay here so we question the food hygiene, although breakfast was tasty. Didn’t sleep well as too hot and set near main road so noisy. Close to beach, which was a positive.

Friendly host in arugambay, room was clean & comfy. During the our stay me make bbq with jazz (host). We enjoyed our stay here.

Such a lovely place, stay here with wife and daughter 1 year old / everything is good for a long staying, great location and price. I strong recommend this place

I had a perfect stayed in Tropicana home stay. The best room so far, with a huge bed, hot shower, my own terrace. Everything was perfect. Jazz and his family is super friendly. We were playing cards at night and talking, so warm and familiar atmosphere. 100% recommended!

Favourite place in all of Sri Lanka. We have stayed in some amazing places in this country but nothing has topped this. We actually moved from another hotel in Arugam Bay and it was the best thing we did. The room is amazing, large, great AC and fan, huge bed with mosquito nets, great bathroom and a lovely area to sit outside as well with a fan to keep you cool. It felts like a home away from home as the owners are so welcoming, helpful and just incredible people. We cannot recommend this place enough and have now extended our stay here because of them. Come and stay at this hotel, you won't regret it. Highly recommend!

Best place to stay for exploring Arugam Bay. Location is perfect, close to the beach and restaurants. We had a amazing time here. 5/5 easy given

We stayed 4 nights at Tropicana and it was one of the best, most memorable stays of our trip to Sri Lanka. The room was great, with a private balcony area too, and in such close distance from the beach, but it was the family that made our stay so special.

Jas and his family were so welcoming, helpful and friendly - we loved spending time with them when we were at the property. On our last night, we had a delicious home cooked meal.

We’ll definitely be returning to Tropicana on our next visit to Aragumbay.

Excellent place! They're right by the best part of the beach with direct access to the ocean. Super friendly family, really quiet, and comfortable. They have both really good newer rooms as well as cheaper older rooms to choose from.
