This post is published after thinking many times. Because I feel that it will be useful to someone else, even if I don't want to.
On the 10th of last October, we bought two essential electrical appliances for the home from Maharagama Abans based on the belief that we had been buying electrical appliances for home and our institutions from Nugegoda Shaka and Maharagama Shaka of that company for some time. Although we have not bought electrical equipment from any other company so far, it is because of our trust in Abans company.
But on October 10, I felt that one of the Mistral type electrical appliances that I bought was not working properly, so a few days later, when I went to Abans Institute in Maharagama, they told me to bring it back and check it. When I went back on Wednesday and handed over the device, they said that I had been sold a device without a blade. When I asked how can a brand new product be like that, if it is not original branded, they just shook their heads. In addition, when I called their repair department, they told me to send a vedio that the device is not working properly. I rejected it saying that I never expected such a response from an organization like Abans.
However, they said it would be made and sent on Monday, but I was able to deliver it on Wednesday or Thursday. Due to the frustration I had with the company and the Mistral brand that I bought, I requested for an exchange of another brand of equipment, but they refused saying that it is not possible to do so without the package. (Removed the package before using a newly bought product based on the trust in Abans). I asked them to refund my money if they could not give me another brand based on the carelessness of their customer care and the inconvenience I experienced. That it can be done on a manager approval. As the manager is not available today, I have not received a call from them who noted down my locker number and accepted the product saying that they will notify me on the next day.
After waiting for a week, when I called the branch manager, he answered without any responsibility. He said he was informed about this and forgot about it. He very carelessly said that this cannot be done without the package and gave a number of a person who said he was their marketing manager and asked him to call. When I called him, he expressed his regret for the inconvenience and said that he would resolve this the next day, but even after a week has passed, I have not received that call.
I wanted to post this for two reasons.
1. In this case, I was very inconvenienced as a customer. This is something I have never experienced before in any institution.
2. The amount that I did not receive is an amount that I can afford (I have already purchased this electrical appliance from another company) but I also had an era where I made money by collecting coins and making money to buy the necessary items. Because I thought this would be important.

It's Bad.bad bad bad and bad. (what to say other than bad?) After-sales customer service is extremely bad. Specially don't buy gas cookers from here. They sell faulty cookers and they don't have home visit repair teams like singer. They'll never give you a new one for the faulty one. (Even you have the 12 months warranty period) You have to take your cooker to wellawatte and they say it will take like almost a week to get the repair done. Or if you handover the cooker to the showroom.it will take like 2 or more weeks. (ඒක හදල ගෙනත් දෙනකන් කඩෙන් කන්නද?) however, overall experience is very bad
I just visited your showroom, there are 2 executives only and they are already busy with another customers. So i am very disappointed with the customer service at showroom. I couldn't fulfill my need there.you will lose your day to day customers therefore.
Not recommended, they don't care about every customer. They are giving priority to the person they need. Other people have to be upbeat. Called to get a gas cooker and asked if there was stock and he said yes. Go and waste about 45 minutes and it's over. Told to take our other one. This is the situation.
Not good. One of the sales assistant guy told me installment payment is provided for a standing fan i was gonna by. But later some chubby dark guy came in and said the installments are provided only for the items above 10K. 1 star for inconsistency.
One of the worst home appliance shops I ever bought from. They don't respect any warranties and sell inferior goods that break in few weeks. When given for repairs, they take months to just say parts are not available, so the customer has to forget about the appliance and money both.customer service is appalling and the staff usually enters into arguments with customers.no respect for customer at all. Don't go to this Abans shop.
This place has got the most irresponsible billing staff you can ever imagine!
Be prepared to experience a few void payments if you're planning to purchase items with a credit card because there's a high probability of that staff messing with the numbers & your instalment plan!
Unexpectable and disrespectful customer care in Abans Maharagama. No one comes to show up to look at the items. On boy who works there arguing and giving a number to complain. Very disprestful. Never go to this branch.
Don’t be fooled at the price Abans offers. Their after sales is the worst after sales experience one could imagine.
They do not offer the standard international warranty any device offers to anyone who buys a product from them.
Instead they offer a warranty of their own which denies Sri Lankan consumers the basic international warranty those prestigious international brands offer consumers.
The consumer is conned into making a purchase worth hundreds of thousands to find out that they are stripped off of their basic human right of having consumer protection.
Even medieval Sri Lanka had consumer protection and it is evident in the ‘Badulu Dem inscription’ written in 10th century.
But the Sri Lankan government is failing to protect the fundamental rights of its citizens from the big businesses.
If you have any brains left, you would consider purchasing products from elsewhere with better quality of after sales experience and an actual international warranty.
DON’T BE FOOLED BY THEIR SALES TACTICS!
Use your brains, it’s your hard earned money that you will be wasting if you buy anything from Abans.
Abans might be good at one thing, and that is handling our garbage.

Worst service ever. Bought an iPhone 7 plus. After one year and two months.the battery swelled and stopped working. They told that they don't replace batteries in Sri Lankaa and I should pay Rs. 64,000 for a device replacement. What's purpose of selling iPhones if they can't simply replace the battery which apple claims to have a problem with. So I had to the battery from a 3rd party shop which cost me Rs. 13,000.
After 1month from that, the phone wasn't turning on. I found out that the signal IC is not working. And Abans couldn't replace that also.
I have friends who have similar experiences with Abans. The prices of the devices in Abans are higher than other shops also. I thought that they will provide a good service for the increased cost. BUT NO. Why pay more some 3rd class service. DON'T BUY FROM ABANS.
Very very Bad customer service. Really. I'll not give 5 stars.to day we went to buy a laptop. So we asked about payment.they don't know how to talk to customers (they talk to us like they don't care). Very disappointed. I'll not going again to this showroom.and I'll tell everyone about this.
Bought mistral fan. Pathetic. Yet the fridge bought (brand LG) is superb. “Abans” and other unknown brands are useless. I do not recommend to buy. They will breakdown in no time. Yet the renowned brands are ok, online delivery too seamless and smooth. After service can be rated 0/10. No-one takes responsibility.
Went there today to buy an Air Cooler. I wanted to buy it for an emergency and I asked the sales person about the specs. He just told me that this one is available, pointing his finger at a displayed item and that was it. I asked him capacity, efficiency whether it will fit my requirement.oh my god, his attitude as a sales person was pathetic, I've been in the sales over 10 years and if any of my staff was like that I would have him kicked out then and there. He didn't know anything about specs, not even the details available on there website. His name is Sanjeewa Jayashan- If anyone responsible for your sales please note that I didn't buy it from your showroom because of that incompetent guy and went all the way to Colombo 3 and bought one.
Never buy mobile phone from abans. The qualuty and the warranty service is horrible. Really good service inside the showroom but lack the range of the available products.
Products are "OK". But when I gave them a cooker for repair during the 6 month warranty, they took 2 month to repair it. Once the thing came to my hands, I didn't have any warranty to claim if it broke again.
Largest Abans Elite Showroom in this area. All the consumer electronics can be chosen from here. Customer service is good and after sales service is also good. Vehicle parking space available. They are open till 9.00 pm. Everyday.
One stop outlet for all electronics. Sadly some items are out of srock. Currency crisis seem to be affecting the bussiness.
Since it's Abans Elite, they carry a wide range of electronic items, homeware, a small range of Titan watches and even a small range of Skechers shoes. They also had few sofas in the homeware section.
Spacious outlet with the whole range of electronic appliances, adequate parking and friendly service.
Been here many time to purchase electronic goods. Best to see is what card offers are available, and then visit, as then you do get some decent discounts or payment schemes.
