I've been to the Amal Villa a few times and every single time, like now, it's a pure dream. The discretion, the friendliness, the professionalism and everything around is pure paradise. I never want to stay anywhere else in Sri Lanka again and I am absolutely happy. Can only be recommended!

I was able to spend my 3rd vacation in Sri Lanka for 3 weeks (end of November - mid-December 2023). I was looking for an alternative to my very European-run hotel.

So I came across #AmalVilla and checked it out. Unannounced on market day, Monday December 11th, 2023.
We were nevertheless given a very warm welcome.
We were shown the premises, rooms, the wonderful garden and even the Ayurveda area and invited to herbal tea.
It's great how much love and taste everything was furnished with.
Despite being located directly on the street (which is a little higher) it is an oasis of peace!
The next stay will be here.

We stayed on one night at FB Basis. Very clean and nice rooms and bathrooms. The staff is very friendly and accomodative. Food is also so tasty and in good portions. Their mocktails are also very good.
The walk towards their private beach is thruogh an area surrounded by several trees.
11 of us friends had a lovely time there taking a break from our monotonous life.

The only bad experience in hospitality in Sri Lanka I had, was this place. Such a nice location with lovely views but the waiters over there are pathetic. I was travelling with an infant who fancied one of their toothpick bottle kept on the restaurant table. We placed an order of “handsome” amount (including food and beer). As soon as my baby picked up the bottle, the waiter barged in and very rudely told to put that away because of hygiene issue. He almost tried to snatch it away. I understand the hygiene issue and also the danger associated with it for my baby. But first and foremost, the waiter was concerned only with hygiene and not for the safety of my kid. I could have easily distracted my kid away from it within a span of few seconds, had the waiter not taken it away from her. At the very worst, I’d have paid for that stupid bottle of toothpick. But he just took it away, leaving my kid all cranky and crying. The waiters need to be better trained. Also, when we visited, there were innumerous flies swarming the restaurant. We didn’t stay at the property and cancelled the order as well. NOT AT ALL KID FRIENDLY PLACE.

First and foremost, what an awesome guy Amal is. Super nice, fun, accommodating, and very intelligent. Amal Villa is a small boutique hotel with a very private feel to it. Best way to visit is with a bunch of friends. Well priced and comfortable.

Amal has a very good Ayurveda retreat, but also you can go for drink or food. I liked the location at the beach for drinks.the garden is nice to sit for lunch or dinner.also it can be an adventure to sit inside the restaurant by the tracks when the train crashes thru.friendly stuff.didn't stay over night.been there for new year party 2020.

The restaurant looks amazing with a nice ocean view. But such a pitty for so unprofessional waiters. When we arrived we didn't receive a menu, we had to get ourselves from the bar after 20 minutes wait. It took another 20 minutes for a waiter to take our order, then another 20 min get our drinks, which wasn't even complete. So, after 1 hour of waiting we left the restaurant starving. Such a pitty!

The villa backs onto open countryside and the gardens are amazing. There are mature trees and shrubs and the pool is large with plenty of seating and shade. We saw Kingfishers, squirrels, and other native animals. The rooms are cool and spacious and some have terraces or balconies. They are clean and beautifully presented. An amazing breakfast is served on your terrace or balcony and if you don’t have one the guys serve it in the garden in a lovely area for you. Lunch and dinner is available across the road at the restaurant next to the hotel. The menu is new and has local, Indian, Seafood and European dishes. We ate there on 3 occasions and the service and food was great. The staff in the garden and kitchen are brilliant. They keep everything clean and tidy and the presentation of breakfast is amazing. Thank you to all at Amal villa for an amazing stay.

We stayed with Amal this Christmas and had the most incredible time. The service provided by Amal and his team was second to none and there was no request too much for them to handle. The rooms were a particular highlight as Amal's attention to detail meant that no stone was left unturned. All AC units worked perfectly, the mosquito nets were brand new and the rooms were thoroughly cleaned everyday.

The beautiful beach, 5-star spa facilities and excellent food meant that we did not have to leave the resort once whilst staying there. We also loved our dinners on the beach where local musicians played guitar around the bonfire and provided a fantastic atmosphere.

I could not recommend this more and don't believe that service like this could be found anywhere else in the country!

Amazing restaurant, beautiful view, great seafood! The waiters, on the other hand, are horrible. We’ve been waiting half an hour for our drinks and nobody even took my friends order while I got my fresh fish very fast. We had 3 beers because “they’ve opened it already”, the four of us had our fish as an appetizer and ñeft for a better service restaurant. It’s a pity for such a beautiful place to have low standard services! Definitely one of the worst experiences ever!

Ich war das zweite mal bei Amal Villa. Noch nie hatte ich solch einen Urlaub wie dort. Man wird verwöhnt von allen Seiten und es wird jeder noch so kleine Wünsch erfüllt. Der Garten und der Pool sind traumhaft schön, alleine schon weil es von reiner Natur umgeben ist. Das selbe gilt auch für den Strand, es ist sehr sauber und selbst dort muss man keinen Handgriff selber machen. Die Zimmer sind sehr geräumig und schön eingerichtet. Eins der größten Highlights ist aber das Restaurant. Egal welche Speisen es gibt, sie sind unglaublich lecker und mit viel Hingabe zubereitet.
Von der Villa aus haben wir eine einwöchige Rundreise gestartet, welche von vorne bis hinten perfekt von Andrea (Frau von Amal) geplant wurde. Wir mussten uns um nichts kümmern und es fehlte uns an nichts.
Wir werden auf jeden Fall noch oft kommen um einen Urlaub zu genießen, den wir so noch nie wo anders erlebt haben.

The great place to visit and eating fresh Seafood and other food. Fast service and helpful staff. Hardly recommend this place.

I was here for some night drinks and hukka. I think this is the only happening place in bentota. They are not expert in serving hukka. No coal changing, chillam cleaning.service until asked

By far the worst restaurant in Srilanka! Decent ambiance/location but the food sucks; ordered pricy crab which tasted pathetic. The crab wasn’t cleaned well not was it cooked well, the crab meat - slimy and smelly. The fried-rice wasn’t fresh either, was smelly. Food rating 2/10.

They have bad service and they charge 10% as tax but it's not shown at the bill, it shows services charge and they claim its TAX even if you take away

Food is less than normal and price is too high. Not worth the money. Had stomach problems after visiting this restaurant. I recommend to visit the buffet of Vivanta Hotel, which is 5 minuets walk from Amal Villa and has nearly the same price.

Total waste of money, when you comes with a tour guide, he will say this will be the best place because they all get free food. In my experience the food was normal and double the price then rest of the world. And you have to buy all for money including water.also when you have white skin, You will get respect. -:)

If being able to pick your fish after seeing them live wasn’t good enough, the food that is ultimately served will make your day. We ordered the lobster and prawns in fry and gravy. While all were good, it was the prawn gravy that was the hero, and added to that even the Devilled Calamari was good. Ended the night on a calming Vanilla shake which was the perfect ending.
