Had a lovely dinner here at Aroma, ordered vegetable rice, starter and garlic naan with curry, banana lassi. Everything delicious and honest price. Totally recommend

May be the best food I’ve ever had- no lie. My friends and I ordered a variety, which was all fantastic! But the star of the show was the fried shrimp with delicious sauce. It was a dazzling dish of beautiful flavors to delight the palate. I cannot recommend enough. 15/10 would eat again.

We ordered squid and fish, the squid in batter was overcooked so that you couldn’t feel the squid. The fish is still okay, the sauce is a bit strange. The juices are not bad. Near the road, a bit noisy

The chef is an ex sailor, he used to be a cook for 30 years on different kind of ships, the food is amazing, best rice and curry I had in Sri Lanka and I ve been there for 1 month and a half. Really recommand

And I’ve been here a month Amazing gem of a place, the owners are so thoughtful and kind, the food is amazing (makes sense when the food is cooked by someone who sailed the world as a chef for 30 years!), the place is clean and the price is great. Plenty of vegan and vegetarian options The aubergine curry is to die for! I even went back for a takeaway before leaving Hikkaduwa! Thank you!

Nice place with good food. The owner made new page because my daughter didn't eat spicy food. I will deffinetly visit it again

The food was tasty, nothing special. But we wated long long time to get our food and the service was not attentive.

If you look for healthy, organic, traditional food with a story behind, this is the place to go!

So tasty! We went two nights running and had the curry set menu, and then the healthy soup with the vegetable roti roll. All our food was soo delicious! We're vegan and left with very happy bellys:)

Best Sri Lankan curry experience I’ve had. Delightful setting and wonderful owners. Reasonably priced 10/10 would eat there again.

This is the best place ever! The quality of the food is amazing, super clean place with organic food. Many options for vegans and vegetarians, but also meat and fish plates. Traditional cuisine from Sri Lanka made with love and care. A must go!

I had a rice and curry which was good.
Pity it’s just open in the evenings at the moment.

Totally recommend this restaurant! The service is very friendly, the food is amazing! The curry is the best i ever had! Also the more "western" food was amazing! Good quality in products! And the prices are absolutely reasonable. A curry for one person is about 800 rs.for two people it's 1500 rs.and the chicken masala was 750 rs.
Only point of criticism was the naan bread, wich was a bit too thick for my taste but that is personal preference.
All in all it's just worth the visit!

The devilled dish is AMAZING, it was my first and only time finding a vegan one In Sri Lanka and It truly was amazing. Also, PANCAKES. Again very good, dreaming of this place again as I write this review a week later.

The best Curry we ever eat.the one and only different restaurant to all the other restaurants in hikkaduwa.not the typical russian and uk menu.a perfect mix of local, indian and western influences.on top, it’s from a local family - best in town, no joke!

I don’t recommend this place. We had two soups - both TOO SALTY and given in a small bowl for 450 LKR each. We ordered also veg naan with dhal and devilled with soya meat - ALL WAS INCREDIBLE SALTY! We couldn’t eat even half of the portion. We talked to the waiter about it and he just took our plates back. Didnt care at all! He wasnt also nice for us (both women). All meals looked really nice and tasty but it was impossible to eat them because of tones of salt - and we ate a lot of meals in Sri Lanka being here for 2 weeks. We asked for sth to drink - the waiter offered Sprite or Coke nothing else as nothing else was available. So we bought water next door cause it was hot. And the waiter yelled across the room that we should buy water here! Unbeliveble! So impolite, rude and arogant. The restaurant is also situated just nearby the main road - all doors were open - I coudnt hear my thoughts. Huge noice. No pleasure for haveing meal. I hoped for a nice place for vegans, but I was massively dissapointed.

First of all: Sri Lanka in late 2021 isn't the country we got to know in 2016. You can feel and see the damages COVID did to the situation of the Sri Lankan people especially to the tourism sector.
A lot of the recommended places are closed or gone forever.

So we were lucky to find this place just opened although the chances of getting some customers were pretty bad. The restaurant was clean and inviting. The staff was extraordinary friendly and competent to deal with our requests. The menu is definitely big enough to fit most customers.

We had a really flavorful Sri Lankan rice & curry: pumpkin curry, dhal curry, fried eggplant, coconut sambal and mango chutney with rice and papadam. Great value for money. We also tried our first wood apple juice. The chef mixed the fruit with coconut milk, vanilla and sugar. An extraordinary taste!

Last but not least: they're doing the environment a favor and using metal straws ;)

My Rating is for the Food ONLY and the Chefs and the ambience! The waiter was grumpy as hell. -ve rating for the waiter. I hope the waiter is changed. We were served by a waiter who wore a cap and used foul hand gestures with a very rude tone while communicating with ladies. I visited with Family during Dec'19-Jan'20.
