Hotel Blue Note

I have mixed feelings on this place, been there numerous times for evening drinks and to use the sunbeds the service was good and waiters were friendly, then one day out of blue a new waitress I hadn’t seen before told me I had to pay 2000 for a sunbed unless ordered food which I did although only coffee and toast for breakfast, as soon as I had finished eating the lady come to me and said rather rudely pay now and gave me the bill but then still charged for sunbed although this wasn’t on the bill just didn’t give me change, I then asked for a beer but was told no because the pumps were not working, lady waitress was quite rude throughout the whole morning which made me feel quite uncomfortable and did not return again for the following 2 weeks of my stay, not sure if you are to pay for sunbeds because when my friends came they didn’t have to pay.

We stayed here for a breakfast. The waiter tried to be friendly but unfortunately the food was so poor. Do not recommend

Do NOT dare try this place. Can honestly say that they served the worst foods I've eaten in my entire life. Nothing, I mean nothing, was edible. Somebody should teach them that 'salt' is an essential for foods. They even took hours to serve those good for nothing dishes. MINUS five stars from me.

Worst foods around Hikkaduwa. Got sicked after eating spoiled foods and waited hours to give our order. Staff was there only when the order is given and we had go inside and find the owner lady for a pork and pay the bills, Their service is an utter disaster and an utmost disappointment.

High prices and sub par service.

The hotel is furnished and decorated nicely. Location is superb. Best to reserve a room upstairs further back to avoid the noise but still get the beach view from your balcony.

Our room was the family room. The beds were nice and comfy with fresh linens. We loved the ample space the room offered, the wardrobe, and the big balcony. Unfortunately, the bathroom needed further construction. The bathroom easily became a pool as water escaped under the glass wall during showers. We had to use a floor wiper after eacher shower. Not cool for such a boutique hotel. FyI, they dont have hair dryers.

Service was lack luster. Our Check-in took unecessarily long. (Fyi check in is at 14: 00) The portions at the beachside restaurant are small for the price and mislabelled (e.g. Oatmeal is not musli). Expect to recieve your meals incomplete, cold, and with missing items. The staff may not tell you before you order if items are missing.

In all, not worth paying $28.

Found this low budget place very last min & it was a great decision. By the looks of its outside, it seems bit of a old but the rooms are very very clear & neat. You got all the things in your room as well. The owners are also very friendly as well. Really recommended the place.

Love this place! The facilities are really well done…just what you need to be comfortable as well as being aesthetically pleasing. Everything is very clean. A/C works great, the doors are secure etc. The staff are friendly but not overbearing. I look forward to going back!

It was perfect for what we wanted— basic accomodation on the beach, friendly staff and clean. But I’d recommend eating elsewhere.

We were really happy, we stayed in the room downstairs closest to the beach and the restaurant, but it was ok - no crazy parties in the evening.

We had surfboards so it was easy for us to leave them in front of our door.

The male manager was super polite and nice.

We found the food in a restaurant a bit overpriced so we ate somewhere else.

The best deal hotel that you can find by the beach with amazing rooms and just hop step and jump in that blue waters. Don't forget to try the chicken corden Bleu from their restaurant.

Beautiful place friendly staff we've been treated very well and had a awesome time but the food was bit too expensive.

Rooms are very clean And hygiene standarda are very good. All the basic facilities are avalable. Value for money.

Room was not clean.bedsheets had blood spots.washroom water run slow. Breakfast was horrible.location was good, facing Hikkaduwa beach.less parking space.

Recently refurbished, clean and new. Right next to the main break point at Hikkaduwa. Quite and peaceful at night.

Worst place for dining and horrible rooms.
Extremely rude waiters. Not worth spending your money with such arrogant service.

A very pleasant place. Run by a family. Felix is the son who was super accommodating and helped us choose a comfortable room. Look out for Teddy the four legged concierge he is adorable and loves the air conditioned room. I look forward to visiting Blue Note some time this year.

Good people, good food (especially Chicken Cordon Bleu) and a nice view over the sea. I enjoyed every single Moment

We booked into this hotel as the location is right on the beach by the surf break and the rooms are new with AC, clean linen, TV (although it didn’t look to be connected) and there was a fridge. The lady (owner?) tried to charge us more than online and seemed clearly annoyed when we wanted the same rate. As we planned to stay several days we got some supplies from the supermarket of some cheese, crackers, fruit, soft drink and beers. Unfortunately the AC wasn’t working in our room. The men tried to fix but decided to move us. They kindly said they’d move the fridge into the new room. Unfortunately the AC wasn’t working in that room either. We were happy to wait for the men to look into the issue. However, when the lady found out we had our own beers in our own room she insisted we pay a corkage fee. She was quite rude and not at all friendly. In the end we left for another hotel. It was early in the season and I don’t think she could be bothered with guests. The male staff couldn’t have been nicer. Such a shame about the lady in charge as the hotel itself is lovely.
