Great atmosphere with very friendly service and the Grilled Mahi Mahi was excellent! We also saw a large turtle!

So I don't know where most of the reviewers ate, but our visit was subpar.

We wanted to go out for a nice fish meal on our first evening in Tangalle and, as we often do, we searched on Maps.
We went there based on the rating.

There were exactly 3 people in the restaurant. A single gentleman and us. After 20 minutes the kitchen guy said he needed another 5 minutes. So far so good.
After three minutes a woman came and kindly took the drinks and food.
After another 10 minutes a beer came, and after 15 minutes my girlfriend's drink.
After 75 minutes the noodles with vegetables arrived (tasty), after 90 minutes I asked when my food would arrive. After almost 100 minutes (by now we had been alone for 35 minutes) my fish arrived (tasty).
Since I was so angry, I ate five bites and gave the rest to the dog.
Well, if I'm the only one who has experienced something like this. But others work better for 7300 rupees!

The restaurant pleased with its prices and quality. The seafood is very tasty. Delicious burgers with fish. By the way, a burger costs about $5, at the Mayavee Resort and Spa the same burger costs $15. Choose your lunch spots carefully.
P. S.: I also liked the Curry here, there was a group of us and we ate a lot of seafood (hence the price tag)

If you are visiting Tangalle, Unakuruwa, YOU have to visit Moon River restaurant! It’s a beautiful small restaurant on a hidden beach with amazing fresh sea food and nice drinks.

We had the hotel nearby to the Key Villa and we visited Amal's restaurant several times and we always left with a good impression, especially that our kid could play around in the sand close to our table.

The service we received was so amazing and we will definitely be back again. They made us feel welcomed and gave us an amazing experience.p. S.takeaway is also available

We were looking for tasty, not expensive and local. Found this place. Prices are very good for everything. Including beer. I dropped one star from the service for speed, but for sociability and atmosphere, you can add a bunch of stars. I compared prices with others - it's nicer here. For example, a soup is 1000 rupees, a chicken burger with fries is 1800. A burger with fish seems to be the same. A portion of Kari chicken with a bowl of rice is 3000 rupees, but the portion is huge. All portions, except for soups, can be taken for two. Lion beer 800 rupees. Judging by the dating of the reviews on paper, the restaurant already existed in 2014 and already had positive emotional reviews.

Relaxed vibe directly on the beach. All the food we ate was really good. Friendly hosts. There are 3 cabanas for rent, perfect if you're looking for a simple relaxed stay on the beach.

This place is in a fantastic location on the most perfect beach. Amal, the owner, takes a real pride in his food and it is correspondingly delicious. The rooms are good value given the location and the breakfast was one of the best we’ve had in Sri Lanka.

We stayed in the owner's cabanas for a few nights, which was a wonderful experience! The accommodation is really peaceful. The food in the restaurant was always delicious and fresh, various options for breakfast as well, the hosts are polite and helpful, highly recommended!

Ganz frisches und super leckeres Essen. Die besten Garnelen die ich je hatte. Dazu kommt die tolle Atmosphäre und die unglaublich schöne Aussicht direkt auf das Meer. Ab und zu kann man auch Surfer beobachten. Alles in allem definitiv ein Muss für Seafood Fans.

Stopped here for a sultry nourishment. Got blown away by the kind owner, who sat us down with his friends for some arrack. Food came out and took his hospitality game to a new level. Amazing fresh fish and squid cooked in tasty sauces. Great value, 10/10 would stop again!

Excellent fresh sea food served in this restaurant at honest prices. The beach is nice and quiet and the restaurant has a lovely vibe. We had calamari and mahi mahi and they were both delicious cooked along with home made chips fried with coconut oil which made them extra yummy. Must try if you're in the area looking for good seafood!

It was closed for the season when we arrived but the owner saw us and very kindly offered to arrange a room quickly. We stayed 2 nights and slept well. The hostel is located in paradise. The beach is amazing, the waves are cool and if you’re lucky you can see turtles.
Didn’t try the food as the restaurant was not yet opened but I would definitely recommend the place to stay a few nights if you’re not looking for something too fancy.

Really nice place, right on the beach, run by a family, good choice of seafood and local meals, reasonable price, enough chairs, sofa a hamocks to take a rest in shade, we returned several times during our holiday (March 2022) in this part of Srí Lanka with family & friends. Definitely worth a visit️

Mal is such a lovely and helpful cook anf owner of the restaurant. He cooks with passion and love.
He always has fresh ingredients and even if something is not there, he grabs his scooter and gets it for you. Even things like fries.are made freshly after you ordered them.
We enjoyed his food so much that we were there everyday (7days in a row).
You could even preorder special things like lobster and he had it available the day after:)
His location is directly at the beach and very comfy. He‘s looking after his customers also on a personal base (e.g. Organized a doctor for one of our friends)
He‘s also always looking what to do better, e.g. Extending his bar, renovating the floor, … to have the best for the customers.
We are very happy we met him and could enjoy his delicious food:)

Very nice restaurant directly located at the beach. The service was very kind and the food was excellent. We had fresh fish and prawns. This was one of the best meals we had during our time in Sri Lanka.

Delightful little seafood shack right on the water in a little fishing boat bay. Owner is an incredibly talented chef, passionate about the food coming out of his kitchen. Make sure to go a day in advance and order the fish you’d like to eat (eg crab, tuna, lobster, jumbo prawns) and you’ll not be disappointed. The crab curry was the best we had in Sri Lanka and we ended up returning 4 consecutive nights. This place is a total gem and worth checking out.
