Spent a good few hours here in an afternoon. It is 3000 per person but I think it’s money well spent. Should of taken more pictures of the many flowers, beautiful trees and expansive gardens that are all around you. Great opportunity to get surrounded by greenery and read a book. Bring a few short eats to enjoy a wee snack and makes for a pleasant and relaxing afternoon.

Super beautiful, spacious park. Well signposted and divided into different sections. Some animals like: monkeys, various birds, chipmunks, flying foxes etc.
Totally fair price: students 2000, adults 3000.

A beautiful and wonderful garden. Before you come, you can bring a mattress, tea and coffee, and you can eat your meal there. It is worth a visit.

The Royal Botanic Gardens in Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, are a magnificent testament to the island nation's natural beauty and biodiversity. Spanning approximately 147 acres, this botanical paradise is renowned globally for its diverse plant collection and stunning landscapes.
Founded in 1821 during the British colonial era, Peradeniya Gardens serve both scientific and recreational purposes. The gardens house over 4,000 species of plants, including exotic orchids, towering palm trees, and the giant Javan fig tree with its expansive canopy.
One of the most iconic features is the Avenue of Royal Palms, a stately row of palm trees that greet visitors upon entry. The garden's centerpiece, the Great Circle, is adorned with an array of colorful flower beds and fountains, providing a picturesque setting for leisurely strolls.
The gardens also boast the National Herbarium, which contains an extensive collection of preserved plant specimens for research and conservation efforts. Furthermore, Peradeniya Gardens offer educational opportunities, with its serene avenues and placid ponds serving as living classrooms for botany enthusiasts.
In conclusion, the Peradeniya Royal Botanic Gardens are a horticultural jewel that showcases Sri Lanka's rich biodiversity. They offer a peaceful retreat for nature lovers, a valuable resource for scientific study, and a vibrant testament to the island's natural splendor. A visit to this botanical wonderland is a must for anyone exploring the beauty of Sri Lanka.

If you are in Kandy, Don't miss this!

It's a mix of history and nature.

Take the buggy ride for a faster look.

The memorabilia shop is wonderful.

A perfect garden, not too small, not too big. Dancing bridge at the back side must be visited. Also You can easily see monkeys, birds and hardly turtles.

In short: large park with entrance fee.

All kind of flower and trees. Some nice spots but most park is just a lott of plants put in one park. Good place to sit on a bench to read a book, but in this case you have to pay for it.

The park is biiiiig and definitely you will need minimum 3 hours to see all places. There are lot of beautiful scenery in ever corner you see. There are lot places you to sit and rest. Always make sure to pay attention to your surrounding, coz we have seen a snake near the Bamboo tree area. Not sure it's just a Rat Snake or a cobra. But it didn't interrupt us or others. It's just stays there and left.

If you coming with elders, better to take vehicle or cart to go around the park.

And ofcourse there are some couples staying in some corners but still its just few compared to the location.

If Kandy is busy and noisy go to this place and calm down.
One of the best parks of it's kind.
And a lot of Red Fox Bat's! This looks like 'Stranger Things' if they all start flying the same time.
Also go for the swinging Bridge and Herb/Spice Garden! Awesome

Peradeniya Botanical Gardens is so beautiful
I couldn’t load all the pictures but what a place to visit
It is very cheap prices to get in
2000 for foreigners and 100 for locals
They have lots of beautiful gardens and lots of beautiful trees
They have one tree that blooms every 42 years then dies
They have black bamboo which is very rare and Burma bamboo which grows at a rate of 30cm a day
Orchid gardens and a swinging bridge if your game enough to go on it
Well worth a visit

Absolutely loved this place!

We stopped for a quick visit on our way to Nuwara Eliya but ended up staying for two hours in there because it is so beautiful and enormous. It is very relaxing to walk around or sit for a picnic. Huge collection of plants from all over the world and large trees that are more than 50 years old. Highly recommended if you are staying in Kandy or just passing by!

Beautiful place ideal for walking. Territory is huge, you can rent some kind of golf car to travel across whole park. There are a lot of interesting places like Sri Lanka shaped lake, alley of different types is palms, greenhouse with flowers and others. It's a must see place for those who likes nature, botany or walking in nice parks.
