Royal Botanic Gardens reviews
40Exagerated rates for foreigners. It is a beautiful park, for which you need some time to really absorb it. But 2000 rupees, compared to the 100 for locals is ridiculous.
Royal Botanical gardens in Peradeniya is one of the oldest and greatest gardens in SriLanka. Beautiful landscape And such a huge collection of flora. Also we can see the mist and range of mountains in Kandy This place is ideal for both locals and foreigners to spend the day. Occupying 59 hectares (146 acres), it has about 4,000 species of plants. The garden includes lots of species from plants including Orchids, Roses, medical plants and palm trees. And also there is a Small and neat orchid house built inside the garden. Botanical garden is a best place to enjoy small picnic. Also, small children can play. Best place to stay who needs the freedom and relaxation to the mind by looking the scenery. There's a small museum and a canteen. There are washroom facilities inside the garden. They are claen and well maintained. A must to visit for everyone who loves the environment. I highly recommend this place to visit.
Excellent trip with janath, he took us to all the places we wanted to see with great knowledge, breakfast and lunch was very nice. He did just as we asked with a smile. If you are in Sri Lanka and are looking for a car and a guide… he’s definitely your man! Couldn’t recommend enough!
Keep smiling and dreaming janath… it does come true! Jim n michelle England

If you and your children need sometimes to spend freely, this is one of the best place. Even good for couples.
Foods available inside but it is somewhat expensive than the outside. So it is good to carry some snaks and meals before entering to the garden.
Also there are large variety of trees you can see there. Really beautiful place. Enjoy well but do not pollute that place
Royal beautiful flowers trees grass grasshopper pets and children, science, botnical, future sri lanka, kandy, peradeniya, PERA, the Mahaweli river
They have a gorgeous scenery, nice gardens for family gathering and good place for enjoy tea and foods
Not maintained well like old days. But we must expand this forests and greens to survive in near future
Arrived early at 8.30am after Sinhala and Tamil New Year, no queues at all. Really magical to walk around the gardens, such ancient old trees, bats hanging, huge bee hives hanging and monkeys feasting on fallen Jak fruit. The aromas of ferns, cannon ball tree flowers, and seeing the orchids in orchid house where our highlights.
Amazing collection of all sorts of plant species from all over the world. The garden is well maintained and even offers wildlife spotting (many many bats, monkeys, lizards, oxes).
Good place to spend time with loved ones. Many trees and flowers can be seen. But beware of mosquitoes.
Amazing place to vist.make sure to be there in morning or at least before 3PM as it closes at 5.45PM and there is so much to see
I'm sure the gardens are beautiful but as a foreigner who has spent the entire covid situation in Sri lanka spending tens of thousands (literally) of dollars in this country I simply refuse to pay an almost racist foreigners price of 2000 rupees as opposed to the local 100 rupees entrance fee. We are not walking atm machines. I haven't worked for 12 months too but I spread my money out and give to every poor person on the street. So I'll save my 2000 rupees for them.
The gardens are beautiful. It is well worth paying for a guided tour by golf cart. The driver was very knowledgeable and showed us lots of things we would otherwise have missed. You will see monkeys, huge bamboo, enormous bats, and so many types of trees and other plants. A great afternoon out.
Very nice place to go with family and kids to relax and explore. But very poor guidance. No proper routes to cover the whole park.
Amazing gardens with hundreds of years of history.
Wide variety of exotic trees including a host that I'd never seen before. Calabash, Cannonball Tree (one planted by King George and Queen Mary in 1901), an ironwood tree planted by the last Czar of Russia in the 1880s, and a 250 year old monster Kauri pine.
Lots of squirrels, birds, monkeys and fruit bats.
Spend several hours in a leisurely amble.
It states that closes at 5: 30pm but they stop issuing tickets by 5.00pm, the time should be corrected, we got there by 5.02pm and they said its closed, I showed them the closing is stated as 5: 30pm but no one even bothered about it. Worst experience of misleading time
The garden itself has not changed a bit.it is a nice experience. All the infrastructure provided is commendable but the security staff is not friendly at all. They treated me as I was a random stranger trying to get in to do something illegal. Is this the impression they have towards locals? After all these spaces are public. There are plenty of other public parks and gardens in Colombo where I have never been questioned before. Please be kind to your locals, or use security passively as in well maintained public spaces
Good place to spend a day. 365 days opened. You can see not only flowers, birds, and flying fox cacti and other succulent plants, tropical plants, alpine plants, or exotic plants too. A botanical garden is a garden dedicated to the collection, cultivation, preservation and display of a wide range of plants labelled with their botanical names.
Lunch and tea available at the cafeteria. It's Royal Mall maintenance.very reasonable and Testy higinic food by Royal Mall. Pot of tea for 4 around 220rs Very refreshing.
One of the oldest and the greatest botanical gardens in Sri Lanka which is famous all around the world. It has many species of unique trees and plants and has a vast area of land. There are various special plants which has been planted by VIP people commemorating there visit to Sri Lanka or inorder to mark a significant event. A must visit place if you are coming to Kandy and it's easily accessible too. Nice place and the entrance fee is only Rs 100 for locals. For foreigners it costs Rs 2000 though. Recommended for all ages and families and specially for botany enthusiasts.
Can say one of the iconic place of Kandy. Very quite environment, March is the perfect time to visit. We took cart ride, the guide explained all nicely Amazing place. Parking is bit difficult, so try to stay near by hotels. (cart ride is good, but we have to wait for an hour, for its availibility)
