Our family trip at the Plains was a great getaway. The place has amazing views and Muru & his staff made us feel right at home. The food was good and Chef was able to meet to our groups dietary requirements. We highly recommend this beautiful place for anyone looking for a quiet getaway in the hills.

Best place for a honeymoon couple to come and enjoy, I guarantee there is no other place like this in Sri Lanka. The property is amazing, the staff excellent and the service phenomenal. Definitely worth the price.

One of my best hotel in hill country. Cool weather and hortan pains montain range will give you unforgettable memories and friendly staff and delicious food add some flavor in to it. Hotel have their own farm, located arround the hotel. They add fresh veggie’s and strawberry directly from their farm in to your meals. They can arrange your meal in to your room as well. Rooms are really comfortable & well maintained (but heater system not enough for cold nights?). You can go for bicycle ride and farm visit during your stay as well. Can recommend and hope to come again

Have their own strawberry farm down the road. Should definitely try it.
Rooms are clean and equipped with heaters.
Spacious bathrooms with hot water.
Food is average and could improve on the spread.
Staff is friendly and professional.
They have several wings/chalets. There is only one restaurant and a kitchen for all the chalets. If you are concerned about the privacy do not reserve the wing with kitchen and the restaurant. Better to enquire before making the reservation.

Probably the best scenic view in Ambewela. We’ve booked the chalet which is more suitable for a couple. Room conditions are great. Even beds are facilitated with heaters.
And staff is very helpful…
You can visit nearby jagro strawberry farm and food stole. The hotel is a well maintained farm with 32 acres, and you can visit their farm and see the cultivations.
But I’m not very much satisfied with their foods. There’s no much selections. That’s the only concern I’ve regretted

We went there for our honeymoon & truly satisfied about this place. They welcomed us with a bouquet of flowers. The bedroom & bathroom were arranged in a romantic way with candles lit everywhere. To add to the romance, we were provided with a candle light dinner. The staff is really friendly and supportive & food is really tasty with freshly picked vegetables from their farm. They follow covid protocols & hygiene is well maintained. If you are looking for a place for your honeymoon, this is the best with no doubt

Beautiful hotel in horten plains. Good food. Loved the stay there. Dont forget to check the tractor ride around their farm.

One of the best destinations to visit in Nuwaraeliya. The splendid sceneries surrounded by misty mountains.
Appreciate the great hospitality by all the staff. Delicious foods to select in a limited menu though.

The Plains

The Plains is set amidst a mountain range, synonymous of the Ambewela backdrop; it is contained within the vast expanse of a 30 acre estate. This modern-green bungalow is a place of solitude nestled high up on the mountain tops. While seamlessly blending in with the surrounding picturesque landscape, boasting a rich assortment of lush green flora and fauna, the stage and the atmosphere is delicately set, to enjoy many a relaxing holiday.



Nuwara Eliya



The Plains is located in the Nuwara Eliya district, roughly about 6km away from the town of Nuwara Eliya, also referred to as ‘Little England’ locally, due to the contrast in terrain and weather evident here, in comparison to the rest of this scenic island. Perched 6182 ft.above sea level, and 138 km from the Bandaranaike International Airport (168km from Colombo), the bungalow is within close proximity to the UNESCO declared world heritage site, Horton Plains.

Green Concept

The Plains has embraced the green concept wholly, in its manner of operations. Beautiful gardens comprising of flowers, spices, herbs, tropical fruits, vegetables, and tea, abound, and are within the immediate grasp of our guests. Eco-friendly methods were utilized in the construction of The Plains, and it continues to sustain itself by adopting various initiatives; electricity is generated via wind turbine and solar power, and the recycling of both wet and solid waste takes place, while placing the least impact on nature possible. The idyllic setting provides the perfect destination for nature lovers. One can enjoy an unrestrained stroll through the strawberry orchards, or the fresh vegetable beds, while taking in the breathtaking beauty afforded by the wonders of nature that simply thrive here.



One of the coolest bunglow I have visited. I had visit there while my honeymoon trip. The staff is very friendly and they give you guidance and all the assistance. They sanitize entire room, towels, beddings that you may use without hesitaion. They have particular rooms for couples and families both. Foods are delicious and they have fresh strawberry deserts that I will never forget. Further, there’s a strawberry farm that you can visit by a tractor ride. The view is really amazing that can’t roll in to words and you must go and witness yourself. Ambewela farm can be closely seen in up corner. Sripada, Horten plains, kirigalpoththa and piduruthalagala mountains all are in one view. This is all in one package!

Must visit place again and again to enjoy the environment, enjoy the walking, enjoy the mist and to enjoy everything.

What an amazing place to experience the cold weather and breeze. I would definitely want to go again. I would agree with the previous comments about food but that really did not bother me as I was carried away by the surrounding and comfort of this place

My second visit to the hotel. And i had the suit room which was amazing. It had an awesome view of the Ambewela farm and many mountains. A must visit place.
