Ruins Villa

We spent three nights at Ruins Villa at the end of April 2023. A very very good memory! The hosts are charming and went out of their way to make sure we had a good time at their place. Every evening, they took us to observe the animals passing near their land with flashlights. Ruins Villa is the ideal stopping point from where to visit Polonnaruwa and for cycling in the surroundings (many very beautiful walks on easy paths). We were able to rent two bicycles in good condition. Thanks again to the whole family!

Our room was simple but very clean. The meals are very good. We particularly appreciated the relationship with the host, a remarkable and very dedicated person. Coming to stay here is seeing how fantastic the Sri Lankan people are.

Opali and his family are the greatest hosts one can imagine, always nice and accomodating. We had dinner and breakfast there, both was really yummy. We can also highly recommend the place because it's perfectly located for seeing the ancient city, after a long day you can take an exit that leads right to Opalis doorstep. After dinner he even did a nightwalk with us where we saw animals we never saw before (don't worry it's completely safe). All in all - perfect!

The rooms were very clean and comfortable with a great fan and lovely hot water in the shower!
Our host was friendly and helpful, organising our bikes and taxis easily. We were taken on a night walk and saw some local wildlife and to top it off the food is amazing.

Best place for explore Polonnaruwa, Kaudulla N. P, Sigiriya, Pidurangala, Ritigala and many other places. And the place for a good stay with fine food and friendly hospitality. We loves this place. Special thanks for a birthday party of José (24-10-2018)

This guesthouse is just great! We were welcomed by the family, who invited us to bathe in the canal with them (as it was a Saturday!), and so kindly offered to walk with us in the evening to see the wild life.
Everything met high standards: impeccably clean, nice room, very good location among the historical site and the canal.
We just loved it and will be so happy to see them again!

Wonferful place really close to the ruins surrounded by wild nature. Wonferful owner who take pleasure to share is love of wild animals and his country. A amazing moment!
