Sunrise & Akila Restaurant

Fast moving, basic dine in restaurant with tasty food. The service is good and price is reasonable for locals. However there is no menu available or a bill available for locals. But, there is a pricey menu available for foreigners, which is really really a shame. The same food sold at a higher price just because you got a white skin: (Absolutely disgusting policy to treat foreigners. The price of the food needs to be same for locals and for foreigners. I urge whoever owns / manage this restaurant to pay a visit at a restaurant in a different country to find out whether we need to pay more just because we got a darker skin. I am a native Sri Lankan but this is absolutely shame on you! On the other hand, this place is been recommended by most of Hotels around Polonnaruwa and foreigners left out with no options other than visiting Sunrise & Akila. The only reason to visit here is because this is a fast moving restaurant and their food is tasty. No menu, bills for locals & higher price for foreigners. Choice is yours:) Thank you.

Very tasty, unfortunately there is a tourist menu and accordingly prices, rice & curry for 500LPR but still within reasonable limits

One of the best places to eat out in Polonnaruwa, ideal for take away. Small restaurant and space is so small. During the last visit people were smooching each other. Can only accommodate around 20 but do not recommend to eat in during this Covid 19 crisis. Best food for take away comparing with the other restaurants and take aways available in Polonnaruwa town. A chicken lunch packet priced at Rs. 200. Its a decent meal for the price.

Good and quality foods are available. We only tried fried rice and the amount of the potion is lesser than others restaurants.

Food is okay. But expect to pay according to the way you dress. Make sure to get the bill ready before you take the food to avoid paying higher price than the actual rate.

It has affordable prices and foods are reasonably good. Chinese fried rice and rice and curry can be bought from there. There is a place there in case you need to eat there.
