Kanniya Hot Water Springs reviews
20Washrooms are filthy and walkaway from car park is surrounded by little shops. Place is fully crowded in weekends and holidays.
Kanniya Hot Water Springs provided a unique natural experience. The springs themselves were interesting, offering a soothing soak. However, the overall maintenance could be improved. Facilities felt somewhat dated and could benefit from renovation. Additionally, the surrounding area lacked amenities, which may not suit all visitors. The entry fee seemed reasonable for the experience. Overall, it's a decent stop for those interested in natural hot springs, but don't expect lavish amenities or modern facilities.
This is the one of famous hot water springs in Sri Lanka. It is situated about 9km far away from Trincomalee town.
Entrance fee is Rs 50 for adult local person and Rs 100 for foreign person. It is reasonable.
There are 7 small tanks with hot water that different temperatures. You can bath with a basket. There are separate wash rooms and changing rooms for males and females.
There is cafe inside the park and several shops with fancy items and snaks outside the park.
Hot water bathing area is very slippery. So administration should maintain it properly.
We went there in a long weekend. There were large crowd at the entrance. Had to wait around 15minutes to purchase tickets. Per person charge for enter is Rs 50 for adults. Total number of seven wells are there with different temperatures of water. There is also a temple nearby. Better to avoid public holidays as this place get crowded.
Over crouded. Only 4 buckets have for 7 wells. Make sure take a bucket if u wish to going there to have some wash
King Bhatiatissa (143-167) built these hot water ponds for the ease of boiling water for the arahants who lived in the Velgamwehera Raja Maha Vihara and for the Maha Sangha who traveled four miles.
At present, the ancient Dagab and Viharamalu at this place have become ruins. During the recent LTTE war in this area, they have maintained their power in this place and have destroyed many of the ruins in this place.
It's just boring. Filled with people who has never seen hot water but yeah, very very boring.
If you don't want to go early in the morning, it will be too crowded at noon (opens at 7: 00 a ticket.
What a nature wonder. There are 7 hot water wells with seven different temperatures. Feel and enjoy it, but soaps are not allowed. Most of the time crowded.
Hot mineral spring wells for cleansing and bathing. Buckets are used to pull the clear hot mineral water out to bathe with. You cant get inside the 7 wells. The water is sparkling clear and is said to revitalize and put minerals into the skin. Surprisingly refreshing even on a score hing day as was the case when I visited. Midweek will be quiet. I went on new year su day but it was still not packed. You sometimes just wIt for a bucket to be shared around. They need more buckets. Or bring your own! Located 6 km from Alles garden area and maybe 7 or 8 km from Trincomalee down town area. Parking available. Couple of shops on the main road nearby. Take drinking water. It gets roasting out there. Change rooms available but not fantastic. I just changed outside using my towel or a wrap around sheet. 10 rupees for locals 50 rupees for tourists. WELL worth a trip. Pardon the pun. 5 stars if they had more buckets.
It was the first time we have visited this amazing place. We had to walk a little far to the springs. It’s the better place to have a hot water bath during your visit to Trincomalee.
Water is mildly warm and one can bathe with bucketfuls of water drawn direct from the wells. Washrooms are avilable but not usable or poorly maintained.
Its a nice place but avoid crowded times. Visit either early morning or late evening. 7am is best.
Its a natural hot spring and has 7 natural wells.
Floored with granite tiles.
Has parking at entrance
Low priced Tickets have to be bought at entry
Place has changed since I was there last as a kid. They've increased the height of the walls surrounding the wells. And have built changing rooms and toilet facilities nearby. No crowd so could've made use of the place and bathed but we were on a time crunch and simply washed our feet and enjoyed the heat of the water
This place was closed dont use this guidlines to go hot water springs becouse this was wrong destinations
Little known place in the north of Sri Lanka. The well has no special artistic value. Rather it is a place for meeting locals. There also is a big market nearby, with many food-stalls and shops.
One of the Most natural hot water spring in srilanka, you can have bath for adult male female and children also.goid and safe place.there is a temple near by.
Entrance was Rs 10 for locals and Rs 50 for foreigners (2021). Weekends usually get crowded. Water is warm in these springs. Anyone can have a bath and changing rooms are there for men n women. No any other sites nearby. Be cautious on using maps if you are coming from Trinco cause the road directed by the Maps is incorrect. Better to ask from locals.
You should visit there and enjoy the hot water in the well. The myth says if you have bath on 7 springs most of your diseases will cure.
