Quiet accommodation about ten minutes walk from the main street, very nice clean cabins with hammock and garden view, delicious breakfast with lots of choice and fresh produce!

We have spent a week at East Surf Cabanas as a family and the experience could not have been more positive. Rafaella and Sudu have been the best hosts we have had in our entire experience in Sri Lanka. The cabins are very good, clean and well-kept. The breakfasts are exquisite and have a wide variety of dishes to choose from. They are located 5 minutes walk to the beach. When you travel with your family, you appreciate being a little further away from the hustle and bustle and being able to have more peace of mind. That is why East Surf Cabanas is ideal.

Sudu organized a jungle BBQ for our group one night. We were able to do a safari through a natural park very close and see crocodiles and elephants. The experience was wonderful. He took us to a magical place and cooked us some of the best food we've ever had in Sri Lanka. So if you come to East Surf Cabanas don't miss this experience! For us it has been the best of the trip!

LONG LIVE EAST SURF CABANAS!
We just spent some incredible days as a family there. The place is very cozy and clean, the rooms have a lot of charm and the breakfasts are spectacular.
It is located a little outside the town which allows you to escape the hustle and bustle but be very close to the beach for a pleasant walk.
Rafaella and Sudu go on some beautiful expeditions with a lot of knowledge of the environment, without a doubt the highlights of the trip!

Just a statement to start with: Bath and toilet get a AAA. Far beyond Sri Lankan standard. In addition, having drinking water from the tab means something in the country of PET bottles (with a fridge we even had cold drinking water).
We stayed for roughly two months and extended as far as feasible. This almost tells it all. Waking up with the birds or other creatures, trying not to end breakfast because of the food and the stories, and then diving into Arugam Bay or all the nice places around, just following the flow, all organized and maintained by the unbelievable crew around Raffaella & Sudu with their free and stormy daughter Giada. There can’t be a lot the crew doesn’t know about the area or cannot organize for you - don’t miss the jungle barbecue or the curry.
Our son loved the garden as his playground and for starting adventures. Getting to the beach is roughly a 10 minutes walk, same as to the 1st bunch of restaurants in town. Staying long enough makes you also feel a little bit of the vibes of running the place including the struggles of the country.

Our favorite place in Arugam Bay, close enough to walk to the beach or the strip, and far enough to feel that you are outside all the chaos and noise.
Raffaella and Sudu run a great place, rooms are spacious and ventilated, the breakfast are great and the jungle bbq is an amazing experience.

We ended up extending our time here for another whole month we enjoyed it so much. Location is great, less then 10min walk to the beach, amazing breakfast and dinner options. What I liked about East Surf Cabanas is the nice blend of having the privacy of your own space and places to hang out, but if you want to hang out and socialise with the owners or staff there is always someone around who is great to chat to. If you want to feel like you are living with a family on your holidays you can, if you want to be left alone and do your own thing you can do that as well.
Make sure you do a jungle bbq with Sudu the owner, the food is amazing and might see a crocodile or two!

The best complementary breakfasts ever. Same as eating in a nice restaurant. Rafaella, the owner, keeps her hotel clean and comfortable. The place is away from all the noise and hippies.:) Outdoor hot showers are a blessing. Lots of ventilations in the rooms. Personal hammocks and a reasonable price per night. I booked it through Airbnb. Definitely my favorite accommodation in Arugam. Will be back.

Just had a fantastic stay at East Surf Cabanas. Clean comfortable rooms. Surfboards for rent. Rafi, Sudu, Nihal and staff were very very warm and hospitable. Breakfast was fantastic. Great value for money. Would definitely return.

Super nice and cosy place in a calm area of arugam bay. Run by a nice European/Sri Lankan couple that make for a pleasant and welcoming stay. Don’t miss the curry nights and the awesome jungle BBQ.

We had a wonderful time. We hired the treehouse with a nice balcony and open windows. Lovely house! The hosts were very kind and helpfull. We booked a surf lesson through them and went for the bbq safari. That was so cool. Saw a bunch of elephants and really enjoyed the food an views during the trip. Highly recommended!

East bay cabana, the place where you feels like home. Not easy to find this kind of vibe when u away from home. But when u met sudu, Rafal, twiggy and yada (the family). I already felt like I am at home.stayed there for 4 night but feels like in a blink and my vacation there is already to the end.rent out his own private board (good board good price) lost brand made out of epoxy carbon fiber.good strong board I even broke his leash and he refused to take the money for the leash. I would recommend to everybody who like to chill with the family and have a chill vibe. I could write 45 more pages but I guessed I don't have to.just let your self experienced it! Beautiful place, nice host family with an inspiring story. Quiet location 10 min walk away from the beach and the main road. The main kitchen was well equipped to prepare your own meals. Perfect for longer stays too.

We did the Jungle Bbq with Sudu from the East surf cabanas and it was absolutely amazing! Eating great food in an amazing scenery! Was an amazing trip trip and would recommend it to everyone!

Home away from home! <br/>It is our third year at East Surf! <br/>Sudu, Raffaella and Giada are a lovely family that really does make you feel at home! <br/>The cabanas and rooms have been made with a great eye for details, the garden is very lovely! <br/>It is a 5-10 min walk into town and to the beach, perfect if you want to escape the party crazed crowds! <br/>The jungle BBQ is a must, you will see an abundance of wildlife! Food in general is great, Michael’s musli is to die for! <br/> Naturally filtered water from all taps make plastic bottles obsolete for your stay! <br/>

Great place for chilling out and having a good cheap meal and drinks with friends or a place to stay at.

Cool rooms with a outdoor shower. Friendly hosts who help u in everyway they can so your stay would be perfect. They orginaze jungel BBQ which was one of the highlights of my trip in Sri Lanka. Eating good food in the Middle of the jungle with Elephants and croccodiles. After the BBQ we drove around in the park for a little safari. Just amazing.
