From the first second until the last, it was a huge pleasure staying in Anantara. Of course, it is pricy for Sri Lanka but it is well worth it!
+Well equiped 24/7h gym
+huge and delicious breakfast
+tennis and badminton court included
+nice pools and beach.
+the rooms are spaceous and spotlessly clean.

Outstanding was as well the guest service, mainly provided through whatsapp (huge thanks to Yashani!).

Moreover, the laundry service is quite quick (hand in before 10am and you receive it until 6pm same day) and very fairly priced.

Tipp: book the tepanyaki restaurant asap.

Overall, I can highly recommend the hotel!

We spent the last 5 days of our Sri Lanka tour in this great resort. Everything was perfect from start to finish! Our host Anthony was always there for us whenever we had a question or problem. The childcare was very loving and the guys from the pool were always more than helpful and friendly! Our daughter always had a lot of fun with the boys. We would also like to highlight the work of the nice young man Kansun Sahiru, who cleaned our room every day. He surprised us every day with new works of art made from towels and kind greetings. We will also always have positive memories of the very loving cleaning lady Champika from the dining room. Although she didn't have to do that, she often helped our daughter with the food at the buffet and was always open to a very friendly, warm conversation. She did her job very well and we are grateful to have gotten to know her. We wish all the Anantara staff all the best and look forward to seeing you again!

Spacious, modern and very clean rooms, with large balconies. Beautiful view of the ocean. Very high level of hotel service. Large selection in the breakfast restaurant. I definitely recommend it for a holiday.

Really very bad service.
Starting from the gate staff doesn't know how to treat their customers.
I have seen some foreigners who are not happy with the Service.

A wonderful location and beautiful hotel on the south coast of Sri Lanka. The welcome was very unique and special the bedroom was very large and comfortable and the personalised service was a great touch. Thisari looked after us during our whole stay, nothing was too much to ask. She was very friendly, made us feel very welcome and proactively checked in on us periodically. The buffet was plentiful and the food excellent as well as a large variety of cuisine. We found the pool very relaxing and the poolside service was fantastic too.

Peace and Tranquility by the Indian Ocean

The title of this review says it all! From the minute I entered the resort I felt like Royalty. There was a welcome party waiting for me as well and upon arrival at the reception desk, there were 3 sweet ladies playing the drums and singing haunting local folk tunes to welcome me! Never seen anything like this before.in most cases, it has been a plastic welcome experience without any specialized local touch. T

LOCATION: Located in a prime spot on Tangalle Beach. It cannot get any better. Since you have a lot of options to dine and

DINE + DRINK: The property has a wonderful Bar and Shisha lounge and also came with one of the finest wine selections i have ever seen in a resort like this (selected by an expert sommelier). One thing you have to be careful (a downside) about is the EXORBITANT PRICES of the food in the restaurant if you order a la carte! But the breakfast makes up for it.one of the most lovely breakfast spreads I have ever seen in this island nation.all included in the package.

ROOM: We stayed in Room 531, which was a deluxe ocean-view room. I have seen many ocean 'views' before but nothing as stunning as the one that came with this room. The room had its own balcony (along with a lounge sofa and a dining table) with spectacular views of the thunderous Indian ocean that you can almost touch and feel the mighty waves! This is as close to the water as you can get without getting your feet wet and right from the comfort of your room! AIR CONDITIONING: Good enough; SIZE: Comfortable space; AMENITIES: Good toiletries (Hotel Branded) ; BED - Decent bed for a good night's sleep; BATHROOM - one of the most Stylish and Swanky bathrooms that i have seen. Came fitted with a Lovely stand-in shower as well as a romantic Bathtub (with Candlelight and Spa bath salts) with direct views of the lashing waves from the ocean.the room was so well designed I could never escape from the view of the ocean no matter where I was in the room (on the bed, bathroom, or on the balcony). The highlights of the room amenities are the Super coolNESPRESSO machine with wonderful coffee brews and a fantastic selection of wine that were packed inside their own WINE COOLER! Never seen this in any resort before.

FACILITIES: One of the finest Spas on the island. A mind-blowing swimming pool with equally scintillating views of the Ocean to go with it. The Gym was decent enough fitted with all TECHNOGYM equipment. However, they don't have a lot of free weights, and workout is limited, and not enough machines focusing on all body parts. However, the property has a table tennis court, tennis court, badminton court, and the list goes on and on!

SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all our needs with a smile and made us feel pampered and well taken care of.

HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free high-speed Wi-Fi that works well all over the property. Big Plasma TV screen dishing out a wide variety of channels spanning sports, news, music, movies, and entertainment in multiple languages

It is with great disappointment that I write this review about our recent stay at Anantara Tangalle in Sri Lanka to celebrate our anniversary on 14th & 15th July 2023. Our experience was marred by a series of disappointing events, leaving us with a bitter memory of what was supposed to be a special occasion.

From the very beginning, our expectations were shattered. Despite my husband informing the hotel about our anniversary during the reservation process and in person upon arrival, the promised room decoration, complimentary cake, and housekeeping services at 5.00 pm never materialized. We were left waiting until 9.00 pm, constantly having to request the cake's delivery.

However, the most disappointing incident occurred late in the evening on our anniversary. At 10.45 pm, while we were deep asleep, there were repeated knocks on our room door. Concerned for our safety, we chose not to open the door. To our surprise, at 10.50 pm, we received a call from the front desk, informing us that a colleague was waiting outside to deliver the anniversary cake that was supposed to be delivered at 5.00 pm.

Given my suffering from a severe migraine and our desire to get some rest, this interruption was both unwelcome and distressing. It completely undermined the purpose of our stay, which was to celebrate our anniversary and create cherished memories.

On the following day, when we shared our dissatisfaction with front office staff members, the complaint handling was poor and unacceptable. While the matter was escalated to a guest relation manager, their attempt at resolution during our checkout fell short.

Their suggestion that we book a lower category room and they would provide a pool villa on a future visit seemed both dismissive and unappealing. It is unreasonable to expect us to pay again and place our trust in a hotel that has already failed to meet our expectations.

In conclusion, our anniversary experience at Anantara Tangalle was marred by unfulfilled promises, a lack of privacy, a disruptive late-night incident, and inadequate complaint management.

It’s a beautiful place and the staff is so friendly and helpful. However the standard of the hotel has decreased drastically.
We were shocked to find out at Dinner that guests were walking in to the restaurant in cargo shorts and beach shorts. This is appalling. Why are you lowering your standards to accommodate this type of guests. We know that times have been tough for sonic us, nevertheless proper dinner etiquette is essential to maintain the standard of the hotel.
Please reconsider your house rules and bring back elegance.

Truly a peace haven where you can experience perfect tranquility. Absolutely an amazing place in the goyambokka beach. They're maintaining the property very well including villas and zero waste gardens and wonderful natural water ways and beach. The private villas and villa pools were clean, spacious and very comfortable. Everything is well managed and arranged properly in the time of arrivals. They have upgraded our room to villa and provide late checkout with our request
Quality of food is exceptional. Buffet breakfast, dinner and lunch in their main restaurant is superb in tasty. I must say food are super delicious and top classy. They have varieties of food in their buffets including International, Sri Lankan, Veg/ non-Veg. That can be increase further
During this covid pandemic situation, they are following all the guidelines correctly and they even provided us safety pack including sanitizer and face masks
Staff were well trained and super professional. Every staff member I encountered, from the security to the check- in to the cleaning staff were delightful, friendly and eager to help.
I definitely recommend this place.

Surprised with so many good reviews. The property is super fine with loads of amenities, scenic spots, wildlife interaction. Welcome is done in a traditional way which makes you feel special. Room is spacious and comfortable. We were at ground floor so had garden access which we loved.
BUT it is severely short of staff - tried to book spa (sorry we are booked out), nature walk (sorry we are conducting half tour today), Kids Club (sorry we are closed now), dining reservations (got after several follow ups and many wines are not available), requested twice to pump swim float (nobody bothered to turn up), library has no books (literally zero), called conceirge to book airport drop (sorry they've not come today, later connected with someone who was offering non hotel cars at ridiculous price), all room amenities or requests will take forever as staff availablity is very poor. Also, one of the biggest let downs - all hotel amenities (including pool) shuts down at 6pm so you have to be confined to your room in the evenings as there is nothing to do. Staff service is not too pleasant (except for a few). Overall, very disappointed on a luxury getaway.

Anantara Tangalle is the best 5 star hotel I’ve ever seen. The buffet is extensive and very tasty.

The service is exceptional.there are plenty of things to do on site.spacious rooms and spacious property with lots of garden and placed to explore.

Many animals (peacocks?) and plants to see,

You can have a boat ride with the property itself with the natural cannel flowed to the sea. Suburb sea beach.

Loved the gaming room very much cuz of the PS4

The best part of the Hotel is the bicycle track it was very fun riding with friends around the hotel premises.

It has a very big land to explore with tree houses, paddy fields, herb garden etc. Also you can access the beach from the hotel which is very clean.

Pools: all the pools were cleaned and perfectly maintained (love the pool design as well)

I recommend this hotel ️ hopefully i will visit it again

Lovely property, amazing location, great food, service bit tacky at times. Guess sadly they still need to be trained which is sad for a property in a chain known for its hospitality.

Undoubtedly among the best hospitality anywhere around the globe.

At the time of our check-in we were assigned a personal associate, Mr. Sahn, to take care of all our needs. And Sahn did absolutely everything to make sure we had a wonderful time at Anantara. Would like to thank him again.

The other great part was the availability of an Indian chef, Mr. Singh, who was delighted to prepare our favourite dishes. Again, a big thanks to the chef.

And, finally, Peace Heaven is a wonderful looking property. The property’s beach, its pool, the restaurants and rooms are all top notch. Looking forward to experience Anantara’s hospitality in the near future.

The best hotel I’ve ever been privileged to stay at. At first I was a bit reluctant to choose this hotel, that was all because of me not knowing about the place but this place is really a PEACE HAVEN. The staff was really hospitable. I’ve stayed in many hotels in Srilanka but this is still on the top of the list of best stays. The send off was so much touching ️️
