The Blackpool reviews
52 During our recent stay at The Blackpool Resort & Spa in July 2023, we encountered numerous issues that significantly impacted our overall experience. The lack of security measures, particularly the absence of CCTV cameras, and the privacy concerns arising from the bathroom setup left us deeply dissatisfied.
One of the most shocking aspects was the complete disregard for guest safety through the absence of CCTV cameras on the premises. This not only compromises the security of the resort but also leaves guests vulnerable to potential criminal activities. The resort's idea of "ventilation" inside the bathrooms was one of the most invasive and unsettling practices I have ever encountered. Instead of relying solely on exhaust fans, they placed metal louvers on the walls facing the common hallway that all guests use to access their rooms. This created a shocking privacy issue, as anyone tall enough passing by had an unrestricted view inside the bathrooms! Unfortunately, our own experience highlighted the consequences of this oversight. A peeping tom managed to slide a camera through the metal louvers inside the bathroom, leading to a distressing and invasive incident. Despite immediately reporting the incident to the management, their inability to apprehend the perpetrator due to the lack of surveillance was highly disappointing.
Aside from the security concerns, the room itself was reasonably comfortable, featuring a pleasant balcony. However, we were disappointed to find that a basic amenity like a mini-fridge was not provided, and the staff's response to our request was disheartening.
Additionally, while the electronic heater was appreciated for the cold weather, the lackluster buffet further added to our dissatisfaction. The food selection was minimal and lacked taste, and the staff seemed uninformed about the items being served. Considering the price charged per room, the overall experience fell far short of expectations.
Regrettably, we cannot recommend The Blackpool Resort & Spa, as it fails to provide a safe and enjoyable stay for its guests. Given the availability of better options at more affordable prices in the Nuwara Eliya area, we advise exploring other accommodations that prioritize guest security, privacy, and overall satisfaction.
Variable standard. First day was marvellous breakfast but next day was substandard basic. Swimming pool extremely small hardly for 2 or 3 people
Stayed here for 2 nights. Since the number of guests in the hotel were less, they gave us a set meal menu which was not up to the mark. On 19th night the manager in the restaurant was very condescending when we tried to explain to him that the food was not good. On 20th night the food was again set menu but the manager was very nice and the food was made well too. Apart from that, the hotel ambience is decent. And the restaurant waiters were good.
Stayed here for 3 nights in the Mountain view room. The location is good, the view is great, and the staff is very nice and welcoming. They pay attention to your needs and are always happy to help. But it is the only hotel where they charge you 15% vat on top of 10% service charge. I've stayed in multiple hotels and ate outside every day, no other place charges you anything beside 10% service charge. So best to book all inclusive.
The hotel is located a little outside Nuwara Elya, about a stone's throw from The PEDRO plantations.
Compared to other structures it does not have a typically British design and remains somewhat anonymous.
However, the staff is very kind, helpful and attentive.
The rooms are clean, but you always find something that doesn't work (minibar, heating system)
Overall it is a good structure, clean and functional for a one night stopover
The Blackpool Hotel offered a decent stay overall. The rooms were comfortable, especially equipped with an electric heater and the bathroom with a bathtub. However, the bathroom amenities were poorly maintained, making it difficult to use the liquids from the storing bottles. One notable feature in the rooms is a fixed glass window from the bathroom that overlooks the bedroom. The drapes were left open, and it's better to close them before using the bathroom for privacy reasons.
While the presentation of the food was impressive, the taste didn't match up. We encountered issues like tea served in a cracked pot and some dishes attracting ants.
The receptionist struggled to provide information about nearby tourist attractions, even though they had a board listing them. On the other hand, the restaurant staff were knowledgeable and helpful in providing details about the places to visit.
They market the pool as "Unudiya Pokuna, " but it's important to note that it's not as hot as advertised. In reality, the pool is only about 20% warmer than the surrounding environment. This means that during low temperatures, the pool can feel quite cold, which might not meet the expectations of those seeking a warmer swimming experience.
One of the most delightful aspects was the wonderful emotional collection of photos displayed on the walls of each floor leading to the rooms. Additionally, there are some unique spots inside the hotel premises that were perfect for taking photos. These locations offered beautiful backdrops and provided a great opportunity to capture lasting memories.
In summary, the stay at the Blackpool Hotel was comfortable, but there were areas that need improvement, particularly with the bathroom amenities and food quality. It offers comfortable rooms and a visually appealing dining experience, but there are areas that need improvement, like bathroom amenities and food taste. The glass window issue and the misleading pool temperature claim should also be addressed. Nonetheless, the helpful restaurant staff made up for some of the shortcomings.
One of the best hotels in nuwaraeliya. Located in hambewela road. Good hospitality. Friendly staffs. Small swimming pool available. Separate parking and drivers accommodations available. Nice rooms with heater as well for cold climate. One of the best buffets.western and srilankan style buffets. Starter and desserts are good. Overall best place to stay in nuwaraeliya.
Cozy pretty place to stay, very friendly staff and the rooms and bathroom were clean, comfy beds. Great views, food was about 7/10 I just didn't like the coconut taste I found most of the food had like it had been cooked in coconut oil but found the after taste of the coconut with some of the food a little strong. But apart from that the food was yummy and well presented. Love the breakfast and Jams for the toast and fresh juice
Had a few issues with the room, spoke to the staff and manager and all was sorted.
The staff are very helpful and got excellent service.
Location of the hotel is perfect amongst tea plantations.
Would recommend Blackpool to all.
Though somewhat remote from the city, it's nice calm & cool place, surrounded by cultivation lands, buffet spread was marvelous with lot of varieties, staff were very attentive & welcoming, I stayed with my family on 14/4/2021.
Excellent service with friendly staff. Blackpool is a piece of beauty with a stunning view, nice food, spacious room etc.
The staff is really good. The environment is beautiful. We got a good room but the heater was not good. They have good buffet but their in-room dining prices are really high and the portion size also not enough.
Good hotel situated in a scenic place bit away from the city. Good rooms and food was good as well staffs are very friendly.
This was our second time staying at the Blackpool Hotel in Nuwara Eliya with our family, and once again, we were impressed.
The service was excellent as always, with all the luxury facilities making our stay truly comfortable. The food continued to be outstanding, and we really appreciated the fact that they offered halal options.
It's safe to say that the Blackpool Hotel is becoming our preferred choice for a relaxing family retreat.
Excellent & breath taking views. Great food.warmth personality of the staffs going extra mile to bring food to our rooms.
Excellent staff who were always willing to help with a smile. Spacious rooms, beautiful garden, delicious food.all you need for a relaxing vacation. Going back definitely
A true sample of hospitality…!
We were warmly welcomed by the staff and directed us to the room where located in a upper floor with a beautiful view of mountains and their gardens.
Rooms and all the facilities are very clean and comfy, equipped with heaters and all the necessary facilities.
Restaurant is very nice and all the staff provide an outstanding service.
Special thing about this hotel is they serve their guests like a family.
Highly recommended to both locals and foreigners.
A place to stay while your tour in Nuwara Eliya
We stayed there for 01 night and it was a sudden plan. From the first expression they were excellent and there was a warm welcome from front team and escorted us to the room. I got a deluxe room half board basis and rate was reasonable. Room was clean and neat and all the required facilities was there with modern technology. Room and the bathroom was spacious and view from the balcony was beautiful with sunrise. Food was served as set menus and it was delicious. I could not use their pool and definitely I will be back for my second stay.
One of best hotels in nuwaraeliya. A really good service. And their rooms are really good.stayed here for 3 days and 2 nights. Their buffet is also really good. Food is tasty. They also have lounge in upstairs. You can have drink and play some songs with your friends. They also have a pool table. There is a pool but didnt tried it coz it was freezing. Really great experience.
Excellent service. Gorgeous setting looking out at the surrounding tea estates. Highly recommend. It will be an unforgettable experience.
