Cosy Restaurant reviews
69Ordered a vege fried rice and it only had smashed boiled egg mixed with rice. Also just samba rice.
The very bad experience in Jaffna. The food has no taste. Portions are not enough even for one person. Prices are high tho its not much worth. Not recommended.
I was waiting for the waiter to come and take the order for 45mins. I have go to the reception and demand. They were lousy and not willing to offer any courtesy to the customer waiting to get service. Poor, unclean and unpleasant waiters.
Horrible
One of the worst ever place to have meal. Food are not up to the standard and dirty place and no friendly staff
Can't recommend. Cleanliness is so bad. Toilet smell came to the dining area. Food also not satisfied. Service should be improve.
Not worth for money. But attractive location.
Update March 2021
When having fried rice last month we found a dead fly
Came for Jaffna crab curry and it was so horrible. Over salted and no spice. It was bland and salty. The cucumber Raita was watery. Ordered chapati and poori and the portion of chapati was not enough even for a kid (two tiniest flat chapaties). So wanted to order some rice but the rude waiter just said it will take 15 mins. Then for for a tea again 10-15 mins. This was not even a busy 4pm!
Picked up some food on 6th August 2019. Except for the Noodles, (veg/cosy special), the rest of them were so bad and tasteless! The mushroom 65 was too salty, the so called hot butter cuttlefish, was soggy and rubbery, instead of crispy and buttery. The devilled chicken was a disaster - didn't even taste like fresh chicken. As a Jaffna local who works abroad, and someone who had known Cosy during its heydays, I was totally disappointed. There was a time, when quality was held supreme. Sadly, in terms of food, that no longer holds true. I hope the owner, Sutharshan, takes note and rectifies matters soon.
We as a group went to Cosy restaurant as this is the only Indian restaurant seems to be having good choice for vegetarians as well as non vegetarians.
But many of those Indian bread items as well as vegetarian side dishes mentioned in the menu were missing. The waiter said these are the only items available which made me regret visiting the restaurant at first place.
Those who ordered non veg had ok feeling about their food. I really don't understand the purpose of having a Biiiiiiig menu but having only few items available. WHY YOU NOT REMAKE MENU IF YOU DON"T HAVE ITEMS?
The main reason I'm giving one start is because of the HUGE DELAY. It took more than an hour to deliver our food. Few of our friends got extremely furious and went without eating their food.
The waiter was ok to accept the mistake and canceled few items we ordered after explaining the situation. He also apologized for what happened.
But still this restaurant as a whole deserve single star. I think they have some kind of mono-play because they are offering poor service and still having business. May be because they have bar? Or may be because Jaffna people are very less demanding.
Well, it’s for your information, food is delayed I don’t no why there very unnecessary things to do, sometimes they don’t a languages.but any ways bring a nice thing, thanks ‘ all the very best.
The food took forever to come out. We waited over an hour. Food was sub par. This place used to be good before they reno-ed and expanded.
I have visited this place many time with friends. The Food was average. But I felt the quality was dropping with time. Service also not that great. One day it got 2 hours to deliver our food. As I was with friends, I was able to pass the time. But after that I have never been there.
Many of the items from the menu wasn't available. And food took a long time to come even though we called ahead and ordered them
Don't know how to feel about this one!
They have a very large menu with lots to choose from, the interior is nice, the staff are friendly and speak english. I'm not sure how many of the items are available as I tired to order something a few times and got told it wasn't available, not a big deal for me, worth mentioning though.
The waiters on my first two visits were rushing and running around a lot, I don't know if they're understaffed or what the deal is!
The first time I went, most of the options were not available which was fine, I just had vegetable fried rice.
The second time I ordered mixed vegetable kuruma, the kolapur was not available that time. It took a long time to come, I was happy to wait, it is worth mentioning that it took about 45 mins to come. It was however, very delicious and fresh, big portion also.
I came back for a third time, I think it was the vegetable kolapur this time, Im not 100% sure but it didn't take that long this time and again, was very tasty, fresh and a good sized portion. I asked for it to be cooked without butter as I follow a vegan diet, just be sure to ask for the same and without paneer as my dish came with it.
The price is fair for the quality of food too. A mixed review:)
Food is edible. But we didn’t get value for the money. Prices are very high. Taking so much of time to prepare. I will not try them again
This is the place to enjoy "crab curry" at the best in this area. However you need to be there bit early in daytime to get your requirement fulfilled since heavy demand. Reasonable rate and courteous service.
The food was quite good, reasonably priced but the plain tea was very bad; no flavour at all. Also there was a layer of oil on top of it. Staff service is OKAY but not friendly though! We ordered a Malaysian Traditional Mongolian rice, which is good (came with a mixture of meats), a Chinese sea food rice which is okay but the noodles dish was not tasty at all.
I waited for an hour. People who came way later got the food faster than me. I ordered jaffna mutton and after such a long waiting i got meat that was very hard and i couldn't eat it. I suggest you put an information that it takes 2 h or more to cook or prepare it in advance. I am not a cook and i have no idea how much time it takes to prepare mutton. I am very grateful for a discount for this situation.
This place is one restaurant that serves barely acceptable veg food while mainly run on nonveg. Compare to other non vegetarian restaurant in jaffna this has things to eat for vegetarians. That's the reason I gave three stars. I found valampuri has more healthier choices and better service. If your consist just vegetarian only go for Nila restaurant. One and only best veg restaurant in jaffna. Not the mangoes
The food is great, For dinner we ordered Butter Naan and paneer Tikka masala and they took 53 minutes to prepare and serve with no apologies for the delays.
